We are most delighted to welcome Ar. Patrick D’ Rozario in this week’s Thursday Forum, to deliver a lecture on the topic “A Built Landscape: Form Unfolds Like a Living Topography.”

Ar. D’ Rozario is a distinguished architect, educator, and the Principal Architect of Synthesis Architects, an award-winning practice known for its diverse body of work in architecture, interior design, planning, and development. Alongside his professional practice, he serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture, BUET, contributing actively to architectural education and design discourse. His practice is distinguished by a strong engagement with context, spatial experience, and the relationship between architecture and landscape.

We are honored to host Dr. Md. Ataur Rahman in this week’s Thursday Forum, to deliver a lecture on the topic “Archaeological Heritage in Bangladesh: Art and Architectural Excellence.”

Dr. Rahman is a heritage and archaeology professional with extensive experience in the study, documentation, and preservation of Bangladesh’s archaeological heritage. Currently serving as Deputy Director (Publication) at the Department of Archaeology, he has contributed to research and publications on the country’s archaeological sites, art, architecture, and cultural heritage.

We are honored to host Dr. Md. Delwar Hossain in this week’s Thursday Forum, to deliver a lecture on the topic “From Facade to Fire: Understanding the Fire Risks of Modern Lightweight Cladding Systems.”

Dr. Hossain is a multidisciplinary engineering professional specializing in fire safety engineering, fire testing, and textile engineering. He holds a PhD in Fire Engineering from Western Sydney University and has extensive research experience in fire modelling, fire testing of polymeric and composite materials, and fire performance of building cladding systems. His research and professional contributions have earned recognition including the AIB Professional Excellence in Building Award (2024) and the Discovery Postgraduate Research Award (2022).

We are honored to host Dr. Fazlul Hasan Siddiqui in this week’s Thursday Forum (Lecture 13), to deliver a lecture on the topic “AI + Architecture: Augmenting Creativity, Not Replacing It — How AI Can Help Architects Ideate, Visualize & Automate?”

Dr. Siddiqui is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at DUET, as well as the Director of IICT and Chairman of the ICT Cell. An Australian National University Ph.D. alumnus specializing in Automated Planning and Artificial Intelligence with international recognition, his extensive academic and research background brings valuable insights into technology integration and automation.

Huge congratulations to our faculty member Dr. Mohammad Arifuzzaman, on achieving his PhD from The Bartlett, University College London (UCL)!

Dr. Arifuzzaman has successfully completed his Doctor of Philosophy in Development Planning from UCL's renowned The Bartlett, Development Planning Unit, supported by the prestigious Commonwealth PhD Scholarship. His highly impactful doctoral research addresses critical, pressing challenges in urban built environment and climate resilience.

Dr. Arifuzzaman has always maintained an exceptional academic track record. Before his journey at UCL, he completed his B. Arch from BUET in 2016 and went on to obtain an M.Sc in Urban Management from TU Berlin, Germany in 2020.

This is a proud moment for the entire DUET community! We are incredibly fortunate to have his advanced expertise back in the Department of Architecture. We believe his global research experience will deeply inspire our students and elevate our academic contributions.

We are honored to host Ar. Bayejid Mahbub Khondker in this week’s Thursday Forum, to deliver a lecture on the topic “Tropicality: Interwoven Realities — Selected Projects by Nakshabid Architects.”

Ar. Khondker is a Dhaka-based practicing architect and Principal Architect of Nakshabid Architects. A graduate of BUET (1996), his work is widely recognized for its strong engagement with context, climate, and community. His architecture emphasizes environmental responsiveness, cultural continuity, and human dignity, contributing significantly to contemporary discourse on contextual and socially grounded architectural practice in Bangladesh.

Ar. Ahmed is a leading voice in contemporary Bangladeshi architecture whose work operates at the intersection of architecture, art, exhibition design, and critical practice. As the founder of Atelier Robin Architects and a key figure Bengal Institute, he has played a pivotal role in shaping architectural exhibitions, cultural institutions, and spatial narratives in Bangladesh. His work consistently interrogates context, memory, and the boundaries of architectural authorship.

We are proud to announce that the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (IAB) has officially inducted the Department of Architecture (DoA), DUET, awarding the IAB Accreditation Certificate in the New Member Induction Ceremony held on 12 December, 2025.

This event was a part of the ongoing ArchSummit Bangladesh 2025 organized by IAB at the Bangladesh–China Friendship Conference Center (BCFCC), Agargaon, Dhaka. The certificate was received on behalf of DoA, DUET by our Department Head, Prof. Dr. Bayezid Ismail Choudhury.

In the same program, IAB also inducted Prof. Dr. Bayezid Ismail Choudhury as a Fellow Member of the Institute of Architects Bangladesh (FIAB), recognizing his professional distinction and contribution to the discipline. This moment honors the DoA, DUET as both institutional accreditation and individual professional recognition at the national level.
