We Mourn the Loss of Our Brothers – A Call for Justice and Accountability
We, the students of IUT CEE'18, deeply mourn the tragic loss of three brilliant and promising younger brothers from IUT IPE'21. Their untimely departure has left a void in our hearts that can never be filled. We pray to Almighty Allah to grant them Jannatul Firdaus and give their families and loved ones the strength to bear this irreparable loss.
This devastating incident also sheds light on long-standing issues of mismanagement and negligence by the university authorities. Instead of taking accountability and addressing these systemic failures, certain authorities and faculties have resorted to playing a blame game, shifting responsibility, and using their authoritative power to suppress concerns.
The students, especially those from Bangladesh, who are host-country citizens, pay a staggering $20,000 annually for their education at IUT. Yet, the quality of services provided is far from satisfactory. From inadequate hall facilities to subpar academic support, the care and attention students deserve are frequently neglected. This tragedy is a painful reminder of how the institution's lack of proactive measures and disregard for student welfare can have catastrophic consequences.
It is disheartening to witness an international university, which should stand as a beacon of excellence, fall behind in providing even basic amenities. Many universities in Bangladesh, despite having fewer resources, go the extra mile to support their students. Unfortunately, IUT has failed to uphold this standard, prioritizing authority over accountability.
As alumni of IUT CEE’18, we stand in full support of our younger brothers and sisters at IUT. We share your grief, your pain, and your demands for justice. Together, we call upon the administration to take immediate and transparent actions to rectify these issues, ensure student safety, and rebuild trust. The lives and well-being of students should always be the foremost priority.
Let this tragic loss be a turning point toward a better, safer, and more compassionate IUT.
