Around the end of October or early November of 2022, the Excursion 22 date was drawing closer. As EEE 19, 3rd year back then, was tasked with organising the picnic.
We were scrambling to get everything done within time. Two of our batchmates went to book double decker BRTC buses for the event as we heard that this has been going on for some time, having never attended any Excursion before.
After we booked the buses the operators at BRTC or the person responsible contacted us and advised us to take a pair of bamboo for each bus as the roads that lead up to the Shohag Polli Resort are pretty narrow and the electric wires on the poles donโt give much overhead clearance to the double deckers as they were not build for this kind of transport to pass through.Thatโs why we needed bamboos to push the wires over the bus so that buses can pass through( a risky endeavor nonetheless). A scouting team from the organizers went to the resort beforehand to check the cooking and dining arrangements, who also reported that the roads were pretty narrow for BRTC double deckers.
So this concern was raised before Dr. Mohammad Rakibul Islam (HOD back then). He dismissed this concern saying that this has been going on for a long time. From his response, this became clear that the organising co-ordinators were aware of the situation and didnโt want to be bothered about it. Something to note that Dr. Muhammad Rezaul Hoque Khan was co-ordinating this event as well. As the budget of the event didnโt allow us to hire regular buses we had to go with this option.
We managed a bunch of bamboos from the construction yards inside IUT and put them in the buses. Right as we were leaving the gate of IUT buses started getting caught up in the electricity wires outside the gates and we had to use the bamboos from there to the resort multiple times and also on our way back. As far as we are concerned, the MPE department had also arranged MPE Dayout at the exact same location as us that year, so we can say that authorities form MPE were also knowledgeable about this situation as well.
We are sharing this experience so that if anyone from the authorities want to deny their responsibility saying what happened with MPEโ21โs Dayout was an accident and couldnโt have been avoided, let us remind them of this.

We are profoundly heartbroken by this devastating and unforeseen tragedy, which has shaken us all to our core.
๐๐จ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ก๐จ๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐๐ฌ, we implore you to take this as a wake-up call. Step up and fulfill your responsibilities as guardians. It is high time to stop placing the entire burden on students while neglecting your duty of proper supervision and care. Instead of dismissing the root causes by hiding behind past events, have the courage to face the truth and take accountability. Such incidents are not just unfortunateโthey are utterly horrifying for every IUTian.
May Allah, the Most Merciful, bless our beloved brothers with eternal peace and grant them the highest place in Jannah. Your memory will shine in our hearts like radiant stars, forever reminding us of your presence. Rest in peace, dearest brothers.

We stand in solidarity with Md. Abdur Muhaimin from the Department of Industrial and Production Engineering, Batch 21 (ID: 210012129), who has been unjustly detained by the police in Rajshahi amidst recent movements.
Despite significant efforts by us and his family, all attempts were unsuccessful as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Rajshahi directed that a case has been filed against them, believing he was associated with "Shibir" simply because his university name includes the term "Islamic."
As of 9:50 AM today, Md. Abdur Muhaimin remains in police custody. The likelihood of bail is low due to wrongful associations with political groups, such as "Shibir." There is urgent concern for his safety, as the possibility of remand and mistreatment poses significant human rights risks.
By 11:20 AM today, the case against Md. Abdur Muhaimin has become part of a combined case involving two police stations, implicating ten individuals. The situation is further complicated by the perception of IUT's reputation in lower courts, where associations with anything "Islamic" are often labeled as "Shibir." Nevertheless, there is optimism that IUT faculty and authorities will be pivotal when the case reaches the high court. Testimonies and other forms of support, as advised by legal counsel, will be crucial.
We vehemently denounce this unwarranted arrest of our esteemed brother. As the united student body of IUT, we fervently demand his immediate and unconditional release.
We are deeply saddened by the death of Jahiduzzaman Tanvin Bhai from IUT MCE'17. He was martyred by BD police gunfire during the anti-quota movement. The death of such a talented, courageous, and energetic engineer is truly a great loss.
Everyone, please pray for this heroic soul.
We express our strong protest and condemnation against the killing of so many students, the immense injustice, and the oppression. Truth and justice will prevail InshaAllah.
