​A primary neuromuscular headache disorder with recurrent attacks of unilateral, pulsatile headache associated with nausea and sensory sensitivity.

👉​Types – WA
​W – Without aura (most common)
​A – With aura (visual/sensory symptoms before headache)

👉​Triggers – HEADS
​H – Hormonal changes
​E – Emotional stress
​A – Alcohol / aged foods
​D – Dehydration / disturbed sleep
​S – Sensory stimuli (light, sound)

👉​Worse with physical activity
​Female predominance

👉​Clinical Features – POUND
​P – Pulsatile (throbbing)
​O – One-sided
​U – Unable to do routine activity
​N – Nausea / vomiting
​D – Dislikes light & sound (Photo / phonophobia)
​AURA = flashes of light, zig-zag lines, tingling (reversible)

👉​Treatment
​Acute – PAN-T
​P – Paracetamol
​A – Anti-emetic (metoclopramide)
​N – NSAIDs
​T – Triptans (sumatriptan)

​Prophylaxis – BETA-TOP
​BETA – Propranolol
​TOP – Topiramate
​Others: Amitriptyline, valproate
