The Bear and the Beaver
The Story:
Bartholomew the Bear was the strongest animal in the forest, and he never let anyone forget it. He saw Beatrice the Beaver painstakingly placing mud and sticks on her small river dam. "Why so slow, little one?" Bartholomew bellowed, showing off his massive claws. "I can knock down an entire oak tree in five minutes!" Beatrice simply smiled and kept working, making sure every stone was secure. "A strong foundation takes time, Bartholomew," she replied softly. The Bear just laughed and rushed off to fell a huge tree quickly to show his speed.
That night, a fierce flash flood hit the river. The Bear's quickly felled tree broke loose and tumbled dangerously downstream, destroying a fisherman's net and blocking the main waterway. But Beatrice's carefully built dam held firm, protecting her home and diverting the worst of the flood away from the lower valley. The next morning, Bartholomew had to work all day, carefully sawing his tree into pieces to clear the river, wishing he had been more patient in the first place.
MORAL: Great things are built with patience and care.
