𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴 at 𝐅𝐞𝐧𝐢 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 successfully conducted the the online workshop titled “𝐆𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐎𝐒𝐌 𝐢𝐃-𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫” on 28 January 2026.⁣

In this session, participants received hands-on training on 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐌𝐚𝐩 (𝐎𝐒𝐌) 𝐢𝐃-𝐄𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐟𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬, including:⁣
🏢 Drawing and mapping buildings⁣
🛣️ Digitizing streets and paths⁣
🌊 Mapping rivers and water bodies⁣
🗺️ Defining areas and land use⁣
🌳 Adding trees and natural features⁣

What an incredible night! On January 15, 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘁 𝗙𝗲𝗻𝗶 𝗨𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 hosted an inspiring online workshop: "𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘍𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘵𝘩𝘔𝘢𝘱𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘴." 🌍

We were honored to have 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝘇𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗵 (Director, OpenStreetMap Foundation) lead the session, guiding our community through the power of open geospatial data and its impact on a sustainable future.

📸 𝗛𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻:

• 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺: We dove deep into the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝘆, exploring learning tracks from OSM basics to advanced validation techniques.

• 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: Participants learned how to use the 𝗛𝗢𝗧 𝗧𝗮𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 to contribute to real-world humanitarian responses, including the recent Hurricane Melissa relief efforts. 🆘

• 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀-𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴: From building footprints to road networks, we saw live demonstrations of how every "node" and "way" added to the map contributes to global development.

• 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝘁: We checked out the 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗗𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱, seeing the massive heatmaps of youth-led contributions across the globe. 🗺️✨
