Today, the HEAT Project Team of the Department of Accounting, University of Dhaka, hosted the inauguration seminar of the Project titled “Climate Change Reporting in Emerging Economy: Practices, Progress, Challenges and Way Forward.”

At the outset of the programme, Professor Amirus Salat, Sub-Project Manager of the UGC HEAT Project, presented the overall idea, objectives, and planned activities of the project, setting the context for the discussion.

The seminar featured insightful discussions from our distinguished discussants: Professor Dr. Dewan Mahboob Hossain, whose research focuses on climate change disclosure and corporate reporting in emerging economies; Mr. Chowdhury Liakat Ali, Director, Sustainable Finance Department, Bangladesh Bank, who shared important regulatory and policy perspectives; and Mr. Raqibul Faiaze Mohammad Ikramah, who brought valuable professional insights on corporate reporting practices and implementation challenges.

The seminar brought together academics, regulators, professionals, and policymakers to discuss current practices, key challenges, and future directions of climate change reporting in Bangladesh. We are grateful to all participants for their thoughtful contributions, which will directly inform the next phases of this project.
Thank you to the University Grants Commission and the World Bank for their continued support.
