Did God Abandon Jesus on the Cross? 😨✝️ What the Bible Really Says
Where was God when Jesus died on the cross? 😨✝️
One of the most haunting moments in the Gospel accounts occurs during Jesus’ crucifixion. After darkness covers the land, Jesus cries out, “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Mark’s Gospel records these words and directly connects them with Psalm 22:1.
But what did Jesus mean?
Was Jesus truly abandoned by God? Was the Father absent during the crucifixion? Or was Jesus deliberately invoking the deeper message of Psalm 22?
The biblical text gives us important clues. Psalm 22 begins with the same cry of apparent abandonment, while the Gospel narrative continues toward Jesus’ death, the tearing of the temple curtain, and the centurion’s declaration that Jesus was the Son of God.
Acts also describes Jesus’ death as part of God’s foreknown purpose and immediately connects His death with His resurrection.
In this documentary, we examine the biblical evidence surrounding Jesus’ crucifixion, the darkness, Psalm 22, His cry of abandonment, the Father, and the meaning of His death—carefully separating what Scripture explicitly says from later interpretations.
