The Certificate and Award Presentation Ceremony of the Innovative Project Challenge was successfully held at Daffodil International University (DIU) on 15 August 2026. The event was organized in collaboration with Her Health Project Hub and NL Eats Community Outreach Inc., providing a valuable platform for young innovators to transform their ideas into impactful solutions.

The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shafikur Rahman, Associate Dean, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences (FHLS), DIU, and Dr. Nizam Uddin, Head, Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering (NFE), DIU.

Ms. Lamyaa Barek, Director, Mind Global, announced the top three winning projects and presented crests and certificates to the winners and participants in recognition of their creativity, dedication, and innovative contributions.

The event brought together 27 participants from the Department of Public Health and the Department of Nutrition and Food Engineering (NFE), showcasing their passion for developing solutions addressing real-world challenges. Among the outstanding projects, three were selected as the top winners.

We are delighted to share that the project โ€œMANOSHI: A Community Health Navigation Ecosystem for Mental Health, Healthcare, and Emergency Support,โ€ jointly developed by Farabi Tabassum and Jafia Tasnim Juba, secured a Top 3 position in the Innovative Project Challenge. Recognizing the potential and impact of this initiative, Mind Global has expressed interest in further developing this project.

The Innovative Project Challenge demonstrated the power of providing young minds with the right platform, mentorship, and opportunities to transform bold ideas into meaningful solutions for communities.

Special appreciation to Ms. Lamyaa Barek for her valuable efforts, dedication, and continuous support in making this initiative a success. Sincere appreciation also goes to Dr. Nadira Mehriban, Associate Professor, Department of Public Health, DIU, for her coordination and contribution to organizing this impactful event.

World Hepatitis Day 2026 | Promoting Health, Prevention & Awareness

On the occasion of World Hepatitis Day 2026, the Department of Public Health organized a free Hepatitis B and C screening program in collaboration with the National Liver Foundation, Bangladesh, emphasizing the importance of early detection, prevention, and awareness of viral hepatitis.

As part of our continued commitment to student well-being and public health promotion, the Department also held a productive meeting with the University Management to discuss and explore opportunities for strengthening student-focused public health initiatives across the university.

We sincerely appreciate the support and collaboration of the National Liver Foundation, Bangladesh, University Management, faculty members, students, and all those who contributed to making these initiatives meaningful and impactful.

Building Emotional Resilience for Academic and Personal Well-being ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’™

The Department of Public Health, Daffodil International University (DIU) successfully organized a Quadripartite Seminar on โ€œBuilding Emotional Resilience: Skills for Academic and Personal Well-beingโ€ on 10 August 2026 at the Prof. Dr. Aminul Islam Conference Hall. The program was organized in collaboration with Daffodil Prothom Alo Bondhushava, DIU Voluntary Service Club, and Bejoy Counseling & Wellness Institute.

The seminar featured insightful sessions from distinguished speakers, including Ms. Bilkis Khanam, Psychologist, Students' Affairs, DIU; Syed Tanveer Rahman, Associate Professor, Department of Psychology, University of Dhaka; and Joya Berlin, Chairman & Director, BEJOY Counselling and Wellness Institute.

The program highlighted the importance of mental wellness, emotional resilience, self-awareness, healthy coping strategies, and maintaining balance between academic responsibilities and personal life. It encouraged students to recognize emotional challenges early, build supportive relationships, and develop practical skills for managing stress in a healthy and constructive way.

Creating a mentally supportive academic environment is essential for helping students feel confident, connected, and capable of facing everyday challenges. Through initiatives like this, the Department continues to promote a culture where mental well-being is valued as an important part of overall health and academic success.

As part of the Health Policy and Planning course, the Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) students of the Department of Public Health, Daffodil International University (DIU) created an educational video presentation on "Heat Wave."

The video highlights the growing public health risks associated with heat waves, emphasizing the importance of preparedness, preventive measures, and policy interventions to protect vulnerable populations. Through this creative initiative, students demonstrated their understanding of how effective public health policies can reduce the health impacts of extreme weather events and build more resilient communities.

This activity was conducted under the guidance of Dr. Lamia Tahsin Kamal Purnata, whose mentorship encouraged students to translate academic knowledge into meaningful public health advocacy.

Learning, Leading, and Serving the Community! ๐Ÿ’™๐ŸŽญ๐Ÿฉธ

The Bachelor of Public Health (BPH) students of the Department of Public Health, Daffodil International University (DIU) conducted an interactive health education outreach program at DISS, where they delivered presentations and performed an educational drama on Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR), Anthelmintic Medicines, Safe Use of Painkillers, and Blood Grouping for school children.

As part of the program, the students also provided free blood grouping services to the children, helping them learn about their blood groups while promoting the importance of health awareness from an early age.

Through engaging presentations, creative role-play, and interactive discussions, the students transformed essential public health messages into enjoyable learning experiences for the children.

The entire initiative was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Arif Chowdhury Apou, whose leadership and mentorship made this impactful outreach program possible.

At the Department of Public Health, DIU, we are committed to developing future public health professionals who learn beyond the classroom and contribute meaningfully to the community through education, awareness, and service.
