The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka organized a workshop titled “Meet with Entity Heads: Overview of OBE Curriculum” on 18 May 2026 at the Professor Dr. Abdullah Farouk Multipurpose Hall, Faculty of Business Studies, University of Dhaka.

The program began with the welcome address and presentation delivered by Professor Dr. M. Rezaul Islam, Director of IQAC, University of Dhaka. In his presentation, he highlighted the significance of OBE in modern higher education and discussed the importance of transforming traditional teaching methods into outcome-based academic practices.

Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Honourable Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Dhaka attended the workshop as the Chief Guest and emphasized the necessity of implementing OBE effectively to ensure quality education, skill development and international academic standards.

Honourable Deans from all faculties of the university also addressed the session and shared their views on the effective implementation of OBE practices in higher education.

A major part of the workshop focused on discussions by the Chairmen and Directors of various departments and institutes. The speakers exchanged ideas and shared practical insights on how Outcome-Based Education can be introduced, implemented and strengthened within academic programs and curricula across the university.

The participants also discussed challenges, strategies and institutional preparations required for the successful transition to an OBE-based education system. The open discussion session created an interactive platform for academic leaders to express their opinions and recommendations regarding curriculum development, learning outcomes, assessment methods, and quality assurance practices.

The workshop reflected the strong commitment of the University of Dhaka towards academic excellence, curriculum modernization and the continuous improvement of higher education through the effective implementation of Outcome-Based Education.

Workshop on Industry-Academia Collaboration for Effective Curriculum Held at University of Dhaka

A day-long workshop titled “Industry-Academia Collaboration for Effective Curriculum” was successfully held on 14 May 2026 at the Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium, University of Dhaka organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka.

The workshop brought together distinguished academicians, industry representatives, faculty members, institute directors, chairpersons and students to discuss the importance of strengthening collaboration between academia and industry for developing a modern, practical, and market-oriented curriculum.

The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by a welcome address delivered by Professor Dr. M. Rezaul Islam, Director of IQAC, University of Dhaka. In his speech, he emphasized the necessity of aligning academic curricula with the rapidly changing demands of industries and the global job market.

The Honourable Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam attended the program as the Chief Guest. In his address, he highlighted the importance of Outcome Based Education (OBE) curriculum and also creating stronger institutional partnerships with industries to ensure quality education, innovation, research opportunities and employability for graduates.

During the workshop, invited representatives from various corporate organizations and industries shared their observations, expectations and recommendations regarding curriculum development, graduate skills, employability, communication abilities, technological adaptation and industry readiness. They stressed the need for practical learning, internship opportunities, problem-solving skills and updated course structures to meet contemporary professional demands.

Honourable Deans from different faculties of the University of Dhaka also shared their valuable insights and discussed ongoing academic initiatives, challenges and future plans for improving curriculum effectiveness and maintaining academic excellence. In addition, Chairpersons of different departments and Directors of institutes participated actively in the discussions and exchanged views on enhancing collaboration between universities and industries through research partnerships, skill-based education and continuous curriculum assessment.

Students from different departments also took part in the open discussion session and raised various issues related to academic learning, practical exposure, career preparation, internship facilities, laboratory support and industry engagement.

The workshop concluded with an open discussion session where participants exchanged opinions and recommendations on building a more effective, inclusive and future-oriented higher education system. The organizers expressed hope that the discussions and suggestions generated during the workshop would contribute significantly to strengthening industry-academia collaboration and improving curriculum standards at the University of Dhaka.

A session on Research Methodology & Scientific Writing was successfully organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance academic and research excellence.

The session, titled “Writing a Scientific Paper,” was designed to strengthen participants’ competencies in scholarly writing and research publication. It provided valuable insights into the structure, style and standards required for producing high-quality scientific papers.

The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. M. Rezaul Islam, Director of IQAC, University of Dhaka. In his presentation, he highlighted the critical elements of effective scientific writing, emphasizing logical organization, clarity in presenting research findings and adherence to academic integrity and ethical standards.

The program also included a hands-on session where participants actively presented on the board, making the learning experience more interactive and practical. This was followed by an engaging Question & Answer segment allowing participants to interact directly with the speaker and seek clarification on various aspects of research writing and the publication process.

The session concluded with closing remarks marking yet another successful initiative by IQAC in fostering a culture of quality research, academic rigor and effective scholarly communication among students and faculty members.

Closing and Certificate Awarding Ceremony Held for “Enhancement of English Language Skill” Program organized by IQAC, University of Dhaka

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka successfully organized the Closing and Certificate Awarding Ceremony on 27 April 2026 at IQAC Conference Room of the “Enhancement of English Language Skill” program, marking the successful completion of an intensive training course designed to strengthen students’ English communication skills.

The program conducted through the IQAC English Language Club, engaged students in a structured learning journey comprising 32 sessions over two months, focusing on improving speaking, writing, listening, and overall language proficiency. Upon successful completion, participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their dedication and achievement.

The ceremony was attended by Professor Dr. M. Rezaul Islam (Director, IQAC) and Dr. Mustak Ibn Ayub (Additional Director, IQAC). In their remarks, they congratulated the participants and emphasized the importance of English language proficiency for academic excellence, global engagement, and future career development. They also encouraged students to continue developing their communication skills through sustained practice and learning.

The event concluded with certificate distribution among the successful participants and a shared commitment to continuing such quality enhancement initiatives for students at the University of Dhaka.

Celebrating Excellence at FCUTL 2026

The Foundation Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (FCUTL)–2026, organized by the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka, proudly recognized outstanding participants for their exceptional performance, dedication, and positive engagement throughout the 15-day intensive training program.

In the Assessment category, Md. Shahoriar Sarker (Lecturer, Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience) secured 1st place, followed by Ashikur Rahman Shome (Lecturer, Department of Zoology) and Sabiha Al Humaiara Momy (Lecturer, Department of Linguistics) jointly in 2nd place, while Md. Tanvir Ahmed (Lecturer, Department of Nuclear Engineering) achieved 3rd place.

Tasnim Jabin Jui (Lecturer, Department of Disaster Science and Climate Resilience) was recognized for Concentration and Focus, while Md. Sajjadul Islam Fahim (Lecturer, Department of Geology) received the award for Social Cohesion.

In the Critical Contribution category, awards were presented to Md. Didarul Islam (Lecturer, Institute of Modern Languages), Farhana Rinky (Lecturer, Institute of Nutrition and Food Science) and Shawon Ahmmed (Lecturer, Department of Fisheries). The Punctuality and Discipline awards were earned by Dr. Md. Ashiqur Rahman (Assistant Professor, Department of Physics) and Kaniz Fatema (Lecturer, Department of Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology).

Additionally, K.M. Oajedul Islam (Lecturer, Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering) was honored for Kindness, Politeness and Good Behavior.

These recognitions reflect not only academic excellence but also the values of collaboration, professionalism and mutual respect that define Foundation Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (FCUTL).

The Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), University of Dhaka successfully concluded the Foundation Certificate in University Teaching and Learning (FCUTL)–2026 on 20 April 2026 at the Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Kotbari, Cumilla.

This intensive 15-day training program brought together faculty members from various departments of the University of Dhaka aiming to enhance teaching effectiveness, academic leadership, and professional competencies in higher education.

Throughout the program, participants actively engaged in interactive sessions, hands-on exercises, collaborative group work, and reflective discussions. These activities were thoughtfully designed to promote innovative teaching practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

The closing ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Abdus Salam, Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor (Academic), University of Dhaka, who joined as the Chief Guest. Mr. Saif Uddin Ahmed, Honorable Director General (Additional Secretary), Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), and Brigadier General Md. Nazim Uddin, BAM, President of the Cantonment Board and Commander, Station Headquarters, Cumilla Cantonment, attended as Special Guests. The session was chaired by the Honorable Director of IQAC, University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. M. Rezaul Islam, who presided over the proceedings. IQAC additional director Professor Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam and Dr. Mustak Ibn Ayub also attended the session.
The ceremony featured a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, insightful speeches by the honored guests, a vibrant cultural performance by the participants and the distribution of training certificates along with cultural awards.

In his address, the Chief Guest emphasized the importance of continuous professional development and innovation in teaching practices to effectively respond to the evolving demands of higher education. The Chair highlighted the pivotal role of IQAC in strengthening quality assurance mechanisms and promoting academic excellence across institutions.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks followed by a renewed commitment from participants to apply the knowledge and skills during the training in their respective academic roles.
