Tea is one of the most popular drink in the world. The scientific name of tea under the Theaceae family is 'Camellia Sinensis'. Tea is an evergreen shrub or tree that can grow 30-50 feet tall if allowed to grow freely. In gardens, this tree is pruned and kept at a height of 2-5 feet. Tea leaves are lanceolate or oval. Simple, i.e. the edges are notched. Flowers are white and fragrant. Fruits are brownish green, capsules, seeds are spherical and flat brown. Tea is a shade-loving plant and grows better in shaded areas of light-leaved trees than in open areas. Snowfall or cold, dry weather is harmful to tea plants. Although tea plants are grown from seeds, the process of producing seedlings is common to maintain the quality of the variety and to create gardens quickly. However, propagation is done by seeds. The plant is regularly pruned to encourage vegetative growth and to maintain a certain height. However tea's origin is attributed to a legendary Chinese Emperor named Shen Nung, who, in 2737 BC, accidentally discovered the drink when leaves from a wild tea plant fell into his boiling water. While the story is anecdotal, the first physical evidence of tea use comes from China's Han Dynasty (206 BC – 220 AD).
