Center for Legal Research (NSU CLR),North South University, in collaboration with the Department of Law successfully organized a thought-provoking session titled “Justice Sector Reforms in Bangladesh Under the Interim Government” on 18 May 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:10 PM, at the Moot Court Room (NAC 616).

The event featured Barrister Tanim Hussain Shawon, Former Special Consultant, Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs & Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, as the Keynote Speaker.

The program was further enriched by the presence of Prof. Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of North South University, as the Special Guest.

The discussion highlighted critical perspectives on justice sector reforms.

Center for legal Research, North South University, in collaboration with the North South University, Department of Law , successfully organized the final paper presentation of the Undergraduate Law Symposium, Spring 2026, on 16 May 2026 at the Moot Court Room (NAC 616). Students from various universities across Bangladesh presented their research papers, showcasing critical thinking and innovative legal perspectives.

The honorable adjudicators of the event were Professor Dr. Md. Sahal Uddin, Chairman, Department of Law and Land Administration, University of Rajshahi; Sumaiya Sultana Ritu, Lecturer, Department of Law & Land Administration, Jagannath University; and Ehsan Mazid Mustafa, Assistant Professor, Law Discipline, Khulna University.

Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of NSU, graced the event as Special Guest. In his address, Professor Nasar U. Ahmed highlighted that science and law are fundamentally interconnected and emphasized the importance of proper application of law for ensuring transparent governance.

Opening remarks were delivered by Nasmin Jabin Noor, Chair (In-Charge) of the Department of Law. In his concluding remarks, Professor Md. Rizwanul Islam, Dean of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, commended the young researchers for their boldness, diligence, and creativity.

NSU Law and the NSU Center for Legal Research extended heartfelt gratitude to all contributors and congratulated the participants for their outstanding efforts, wishing them continued success in their academic and professional journeys.

In celebration of the World IP Day, the NSUCLR successfully hosted an engaging session, titled, “Intellectual Property in Sports: Exploring Opportunities and Challenges in Bangladesh.”

The session featured distinguished speakers, Ms. Mahua Zahur, Advocate, Supreme Court of Bangladesh, and Md. Belal Hossen, Assistant Director (Trademarks, WTO and International Affairs), Ministry of Industries.

The event was graced by Professor Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice-Chancellor, North South University as the Chief Guest, alongside Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor and Professor Rizwanul Islam, Dean, NSUSHSS as Special Guests.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Coordinator of NSUCLR.

The Center for Legal Research, North South University,, in collaboration with the UNODC, hosted the Closing and Certificate Distribution Ceremony of the Certificate Course on "Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants" on 13th April 2026.

The ceremony was graced by distinguished guests, Ms. Pinar Elman, Attachée, Decent Work & Migration, EU Delegation; Mr. Marcus Vinicius Paes (UNODC South Asia); and Ms. Tasneem Binta Karim (UNODC South Asia) and was chaired by the Honourable Pro-VC, Nasar U. Ahmed.

The submission deadline for the Undergraduate Law Symposium, Spring 2026 has now been extended to April 25, 2026.

The Department of Law and the Center for Legal Research at North South University invite submissions for the Undergraduate Law Symposium, Spring 2026. Open to all LLB programme students in Bangladesh, the symposium welcomes brief papers on any aspect of the Bangladesh legal system, comparative law, international legal issues, or interdisciplinary studies related to law.

Participants are required to submit original papers with a word limit of 3000 words, excluding the abstract and footnotes. All submissions will undergo a selection process, and authors of the selected papers will be invited to present their work at the symposium.

In addition to academic recognition, a prize pool worth 27,000 BDT awaits the winners.

Interested students are encouraged to submit their papers within the revised deadline.
