A student-led initiative at Independent University, Bangladesh, dedicated to fostering a modern, secular, and rational society through critical thinking, scientific inquiry, and philosophical discourse. The Aristotelian Society, IUB is committed to cultivating a modern society rooted in scientific knowledge, critical reasoning, secularism, and humanistic values. We aim to resist the tide of rising fundamentalism and to champion freedom of thought and expression, women’s rights, workers’ rights, individual autonomy, and a more equal and inclusive Bangladesh. Our key activities include:
• Organizing regular reading sessions and book discussions to promote critical and reflective thinking.
• Hosting debates and inviting scholars to speak on issues related to modernity, secularism, and rational inquiry.
• Encouraging the open exchange of diverse viewpoints to foster a culture of dialogue and mutual respect.
• Engaging in community outreach to raise awareness of the importance of a modern, democratic, and secular society. Through these efforts, we strive to nurture a citizenry that values knowledge, freedom, and justice — and to contribute to the building of a progressive and equitable nation.
