The Universiti Malaysia Kelantan(UMK) is a public university in Kelantan, Malaysia. The formation of the university was mooted during the tabling of the Ninth Malaysia Plan and approved by the cabinet of Malaysia on 14 June 2006. The launching ceremony was held at the end of 2006 by Prime Minister, Y.A.B. Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi. The first students were enrolled with the commencement of the June 2007 semester.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia announced the government’s approval to establish a university in Kelantan under the Ninth Malaysia Plan on 31 March 2006.

On 14 June 2006, a Cabinet Meeting approved the establishment of the university. Taglines such as “Entrepreneurship is Our Thrust” and “Entrepreneurial University” are used to promote the philosophy of the university. Studies are grouped into three fields:

Entrepreneurship and Business ;
Creative Technology and Heritage;
Agro-Industry and Science of Natural Resources.

Apart from the three fields of study, emphasis is given to acquiring language and soft skills.

The Growth of the university

The temporary campus of UMK at Taman Bendahara began its official operation on 1 July 2007 with the registration of 295 pioneering students. On its second year of operation, beginning July 2008, the university registered 332 students.

The first Vice-Chancellor of University Malaysia Kelantan was Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Zainai bin Mohamed, who was appointed on 1 October 2006.

UMK operates in three campuses from its main campus in Bachok, second campus in Jeli and also their temporary campuses in Pengkalan Chepa.

UMK's first convocation was held from 15 to 19 September 2011 at Bachok Campus, in [[Bachok]CL] Kelantan.

266 first graduates of UMK from the Faculty of Agro Industry and Natural Resources (42 people); Faculty of Entrepreneurship and Business (83 persons) and the Faculty of Creative Technology and Heritage (141 people) received a bachelor's degree of their faculties at the First Convocation of UMK which was held at a hotel in Kota Bharu, Kelantan on 19 September 2011.

Among the degrees awarded are : Bachelor of Entrepreneurship (Commerce) with Honours, Bachelor of Applied Science (Agriculture Technology Entrepreneurship) With Honours, Bachelor of Creative Technology with Honours, and Bachelor of Heritage Studies with Honours. One post-graduate student was awarded master's degree of Entrepreneurship (Management) and two with master's degree of Science (Agriculture Biotechnology). (Faculty of Veterinary Medicine had their first batch of graduates on 2014.)

UMK awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Entrepreneurship (Human Capital Development) to the fifth Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Haji Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

UMK simultaneously held the Proclamation ceremony of His Majesty Tuanku Chancellor, Sultan Mohammed V, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan for the state of Kelantan Darul Naim as the Chancellor of UMK, and the appointment of His Royal Highness, Dr. Tengku Muhammad Faiz Petra Ibni Sultan Ismail Petra, who is the Crown Prince of Kelantan as the Pro-Chancellor of UMK was held.

UMK introduced the logo of convocation which uses the colours of UMK; blue, orange and red.

UMK first graduates have become the first alumni, thus, a song titled "Detik Ini" was created by the university as a memento for them.

Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) is a government university in Pahang, Malaysia. It was formerly known as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan dan Teknologi Malaysia (English: University College of Engineering & Technology Malaysia) (KUKTEM).

On 28 November 2015, UMP had been granted an autonomous status where controls towards the financial, human resources and administration had been fully passed to the university.

UMP was established as a public technical university by the Malaysian government on 16 February 2002. Incorporated under the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971 by the Royal Decree of His Majesty the Yang DiPertuan Agong, Kolej Universiti Kejuruteran & Teknologi Malaysia (KUKTEM) was set up as a technical university, specialising in engineering and technology. The university college operates on a temporary campus in Gambang, Pahang. The temporary campus was formerly an industrial complex owned by MEC. The university's permanent campus is located in Pekan, which is under construction.

On 8 October 2006, the Malaysian government agreed to rename KUKTEM to Universiti Malaysia PahangK

Tun Hussein Onn University of Malaysia is a public university in Batu Pahat, Johor, Malaysia. It was formerly known as Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO) and Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO). Along with other public university colleges, KUiTTHO was promoted to full university status since year 2007. The name UTHM was officially launched by the then education minister, Dato' Seri Hishammuddin Bin Tun Hussein. UTHM is also a member of Malaysian Technical University Network (MTUN).

The establishment history of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia started off on 16 September 1993. The university was formerly known as Pusat Latihan Staf Politeknik (PLSP). The core business of PLSP then was to train and produce polytechnics academic staff to become knowledgeable and skilful in various engineering fields. The training institute was jointly administered by Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and the Ministry of Education Malaysia.

Three years later, PLSP was upgraded to Institut Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (ITTHO). Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib bin Tun Abdul Razak who was then the Minister of Education made the official announcement of the new status on 12 April 1996. This promotion is an acknowledgment to the institution that has excelled in producing human resources for technical education.

On 27 September 2000, the institute achieved another milestone when the Malaysian government agreed to award a university-college status to the institute. This was to recognise its contributions in science and technology-based development as well as in helping the nation to achieve its aspiration. With the new status, the institution was known as Kolej Universiti Teknologi Tun Hussein Onn (KUiTTHO) and the official announcement was made by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Musa bin Mohamed, the then Minister of Education.

KUiTTHO continued to grow and progress, producing graduates who were skilful, knowledgeable and competitive. Consequently, the Malaysian government, on 20 September 2006, agreed to award the university-college a full university status and changed its name to Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. On 1 February 2007, Datuk Mustapha Mohamed, the Minister of Higher Education officially announced the change of status. Subsequently, Dato’ Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein Onn then made the official declaration of the change of name on 2 March 2007.

The University of Malaysia, Terengganu or UMT, formerly known as University College of Science and Technology Malaysia or KUSTEM, is a university in Kuala Nerus District, Terengganu, Malaysia. It was officially chartered on 1 February 2007.

It was formerly known as the University College of Terengganu (Kolej Universiti Terengganu, K*T) in 1999. The founding of the university can be traced back to 1979 when the Centre for Fisheries and Marine Science was founded in Mengabang Telipot, Terengganu. Over the years the Centre has moved on from its original role and diversified to become the centre for maritime and oceanography research and development. It was later renamed University Putra Malaysia Terengganu (UPMT). The Incorporation Order of K*T (Perbadanan) 1999 (PUA 292) was passed by the Parliament on 27 July 1999, enabling the inception of K*T.

The Malaysian government agreed to rename KUSTEM to Universiti Malaysia Terengganu in 2007. The name change was in place because the term 'university college' (Kolej Universiti) tends to give a negative impression that the institution is of lower standard as compared to other universities.

Sultan Zainal Abidin University ( اونيۏرسيتي سلطان زين العابدين) is the 18th public institution of higher learning, located in the state of Terengganu, Malaysia. The university is a creature of the Act of Parliament known as the Universities and University Colleges Act 1971, with its constitution laid down under the Universities and University Colleges (Variation of, and Addition to, the Constitution)(Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin) Order 2010. It is the first full-fledged university in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia and the first university to be based on the “cluster” concept. It is also the first university in Malaysia to be modelled after University of London, United Kingdom.

The university has four campuses namely Gong Badak Campus, Medical Campus, Tembila Campus and the latest is UniSZA International Campus (UIC) in Kuala Lumpur City. The university has 10 faculties located in different campuses which offer programs in diploma, bachelor’s and master’s level as well as doctor of philosophy.

The university is considered the biggest "comprehensive university" in the east coast of Peninsular Malaysia and to be one of the most respected Islamic-based institution of higher learning in Malaysia. It has produced thousands of graduates in any fields, since its establishment in 1980.

The university was first established as an Islamic educational college known as Kolej Ugama Sultan Zainal Abidin (abbreviation KUSZA; Jawi: كوليج أڬام سلطان زين العابدين; English: Sultan Zainal Abidin Islamic College) on 27 January 1980, under the administration of the Terengganu Religious Affairs Department. KUSZA was made a statutory body with the passing of the Enactment 31/1981 by the Terengganu State Legislative Assembly. A permanent campus was built on a 350-acre (1.4 km2) site in Gong Badak, Kuala Terengganu and KUSZA began operating in the campus from January 1983.The first program to be offered was a Diploma in Islamic Studies (Syariah). This has expanded to 23 Diploma programs and three Advanced Diploma programs.

The university operates with two campuses in the city of Kuala Terengganu which are the Medical Campus and the Gong Badak Campus, another two campus in Besut (Tembila Campus) and Kuala Lumpur (UniSZA International Campus) respectively. The Gong Badak Campus focuses on the teaching and research of Islamic knowledge and its harmonisation with other professional courses such as Accountancy, Law, Language, Design and Technology, Social Sciences, and Health Sciences. While the Medical Campus offers Medical and Nursing programs. The Tembila Campus was developed with a niche in Biotechnology, Bioresources, Food Industry, IT and Computering. These three campuses will have their own specialised field of studies, each with a separate and identifiable niche.

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM)

UPM, is recognised by the independent government assessments as one of Malaysia's leading research Universities. Founded in 1931 as the School of Agriculture, UPM's main campus is located in central Peninsular Malaysia, close to the capital city, Kuala Lumpur and next to Malaysia’s administrative capital city, Putrajaya. It was formerly known as Universiti Pertanian Malaysia or Agricultural University of Malaysia. UPM is a research university offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses with a research focus on agricultural sciences and its related fields. It was ranked as the joint 376th best university in the world in 2014 by Quacquarelli Symonds. On 2015, UPM was ranked 45th in Best Global Universities for Agricultural Sciences of U.S. News & World Report College and University.

The School of Agriculture was officially instituted on 21 May 1931 by John Scott, an administrative officer of the British colonial Straits Settlements. The school was located on a 22-acre piece of land in Serdang and offered two programmes - a three-year diploma programme and a one-year certificate course in Agriculture. In 1947, the school was declared the College of Agriculture Malaya by Sir Edward Gent, the then Governor of the Malayan Union. The establishment of Universiti Pertanian Malaysia came about when the College of Agriculture in Serdang merged with the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Malaya. Dr. Mohd. Rashdan bin Haji Baba, the then principal of the College of Agriculture Malaya, was appointed as the first Vice-Chancellor by virtue of the provisions of Section 18 of the Universities and University Colleges Act, 1971. With the first intake of 1,559 students, Universiti Pertanian Malaysia had its first academic session in July 1973 in the three central faculties and one basic division: the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Sciences, Faculty of Forestry, Faculty of Agriculture, and a Division of Foundation Studies. In the early 80s, UPM extended its area of studies to include the field of Science and Technology (S&T). In 1997, the name Universiti Pertanian Malaysia was changed to Universiti Putra Malaysia by former Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohammad, as a strategic gesture to portray the status of UPM as a centre of higher education capable of providing various fields of studies, especially in science and information technology, which facilitate national development in the new millennium.anking.

The university since its inception as Universiti Pertanian Malaysia, has had two branch campuses apart from the main campus at Serdang, Selangor. The UPM branch campuses were located in Bintulu, Sarawak and Mengabang Telipot, Terengganu. The campus in Terengganu has been upgraded to the University College of Science and Technology Malaysia (KUSTEM), with its own management and administration. KUSTEM officially broke away from UPM on 1 July 2001. The Medicine and Health Sciences faculty maintains a campus complex adjacent to a local hospital in Serdang.
