A proud achievement for Jagannath University as Shahariar Mahmud, 13th Batch, Department of Chemistry, has secured the prestigious MEXT Scholarship (University Recommendation) to pursue his PhD at Mie University, Japan.

He completed his Honours with a CGPA of 3.65/4.00 and Masterโ€™s with 3.63/4.00, securing 1st Class, 2nd position in both. His research portfolio includes 7 publications โ€“ 6 research papers and 1 review paper โ€“ with 5 in Q1/Q2 journals, mainly published by Elsevier and Springer.

His research focuses on Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, particularly Pollution Monitoring and Control. Notably, he secured the scholarship without IELTS or GRE.

The MEXT Scholarship covers full tuition fees, a ยฅ147,000 monthly stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and a study tour.

Sharing his advice, Shahariar said:

โ€œAcademic CGPA is certainly important, but research experience and publications can be an even greater strength when applying for scholarships. Students should try to build a strong research profile from an early stage, get involved in research from the 3rd or 4th year, regularly read research papers, and develop the ability to turn research into quality publications. Even a review paper can be a good starting point.โ€

JnURHSS extends its warmest congratulations and wishes him continued success in his PhD and research career. ๐Ÿ‡ฏ๐Ÿ‡ต๐ŸŽ‰

Maliha Sanzana Misty, a graduate of the Department of Geography and Environment, Jagannath University (JnU), has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing admission to the PhD program in Geography and Environmental Science and Policy at the University of South Florida (USF) with full funding.

Her journey is a reflection of consistent academic effort, research involvement, professional experiences, and, above all, perseverance.

Maliha completed her Bachelorโ€™s degree with a CGPA of 3.73 and her Masterโ€™s degree (thesis) with an outstanding CGPA of 3.93 from the Department of Geography and Environment at Jagannath University.

Her research journey is equally impressive. She has authored four research articles, including three publications in Q1 journals, and has presented her research at three international conferences, gaining valuable experience engaging with international academic audiences. She was also awarded the NST Fellowship for her Masterโ€™s thesis.

Beyond academia, Maliha worked as a Research Assistant for 2 years and also secured a job opportunity at reputed International company Bureau Veritas, adding valuable professional exposure to her academic and research journey.

One of the most encouraging parts of her PhD application journey is that she applied to four universities and received full funding offers from three of them. This reflects the strength of her academic background, research experience, and potential as a researcher.

Her journey from Jagannath University to a fully funded PhD at the University of South Florida is a wonderful example of what consistent effort, research engagement, and perseverance can lead to.

As the Jagannath University Research and Higher Study Society, we are truly proud of Maliha Sanzana Misty and her achievement. Her success is not only a personal milestone but also an inspiration for students and young researchers at Jagannath University who dream of pursuing higher education and research at leading institutions around the world.

We wish her all the very best as she begins this exciting new chapter at USF. May she continue to grow, achieve greater milestones, and make Jagannath University proud on the global academic stage.

Congratulations, Maliha!

Your journey from JnU to USF is just the beginning.
