Building the Foundations: Summer ’26 Lab Orientation

The journey of a thousand miles and many sky-high structures begins with a single step into the lab. The NSU Civil Engineering Club was thrilled to welcome our new Summer 2026 batch of DCEE students for an immersive Lab Orientation!
​From understanding the flow in the Hydrology Lab to testing the limits in the Solid Structure and Materials Labs, our newest engineers got a first-hand look at where theory meets reality. We explored the complexities of the Soil Lab and the blueprints of the Transportation Lab, setting the stage for a semester of innovation and discovery.

​The NSU Civil Engineering Club was proud to serve at the Orientation Program for the Summer 2026 batch. Our dedicated team of volunteers and ushers worked tirelessly to ensure a seamless welcome for the newest members of our academic community.
​Leadership is about more than just technical skill—it’s about service and mentorship. We are excited to see these new students begin their journey and look forward to building a brighter future together.

Practical exposure is the cornerstone of engineering education! Students of CEE 370, led by Dr. Nehreen Majed, spent an insightful day at the Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant.
​Beyond learning about water treatment cycles, we had the proud opportunity to present our department and the NSU Civil Engineering Club to the plant officials, fostering stronger ties between academia and industry.
​It was an incredible day of learning, from chemical dosing to filtration systems. A huge thank you to everyone who made this trip possible!

Today NSU Civil Engineering Club had the opportunity to attend an insightful online webinar on “Corrosion of Steel in Concrete”, organized as a club event under the ACI Student Chapter, IUT.

We were honored to have our respected Department Chairman, Dr. S M Ashfaqul Hoq, present with us during the session. His presence made the experience even more meaningful.

The webinar provided valuable insights into durability, material performance, and real-world challenges in civil engineering. Grateful for the knowledge shared and the opportunity to learn together.

Looking forward to applying these insights in our future projects and research.

The United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) and Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK), under the leadership of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works (MoHPW), invite university students across Bangladesh to participate in a Sustainable Urban Design Idea Competition that places young imagination at the centre of Dhaka’s urban future.

Students from Architecture, Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, Landscape Architecture, and related disciplines are encouraged to collaborate and propose innovative ideas that respond to Dhaka’s ecological systems, climate challenges, and community needs.

In observance of World Corrosion Awareness Day 2026 on this 24th April, ACI IUT Student Chapter is hosting an insightful online seminar on “Corrosion of Steel in Concrete” — a critical issue impacting the durability of our infrastructure.

We are honored to introduce our keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Md. Tarek Uddin, PEng., honorable Faculty Advisor, ACI IUT SC; President, ACI Bangladesh Chapter.

With over 30 years of experience in teaching, research, and consultancy across Bangladesh, Thailand, and Japan, he excels on corrosion in concrete, durability, and sustainable construction. Author of 160+ research publications and recipient of international accolades such as the JCI Young Researcher’s Award and SCMT3 Best Paper Award in Kyoto, he brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to this session.

We are incredibly proud to have successfully organized our first-ever event at Safecon 2026 as a club (NSU Civil Engineering Club)!

This debut was a massive team effort. From managing projects and posters to handling decorations and team logistics, seeing the NSU Civil Engineering Club come to life on such a big stage was a moment of pure pride. Being first-timers, we certainly had our share of learning curves and mistakes, but the energy and passion of the team made it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. A major highlight was the interaction with various business hubs, where the participants had the chance to pitch innovative ideas and explore the cutting-edge products offered by other industry leaders. It wasn't just about the work. it was about the fun, the bonding, and the growth we shared as a community.

We owe a huge debt of gratitude to Dr. Nur Mohammad Shuman sir and Dr. Asef Mohammad Redwan sir for their constant support, guidance, and for the time they invested in us. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Shama E Haque ma'am and Dr. Najmun Nahar ma'am for their help in gathering the teams for our poster and project showcase.

Finally, a massive shoutout to all our participants who stayed from 10 AM to 6 PM with incredible patience and participated with full enthusiasm. Your energy was the heart of our stall!
