এবারের Miss Universe Bangladesh–এ আমরা প্রথমবার এমন একজন প্রতিনিধিকে দেখছি, যিনি সত্যি সত্যি মুকুটটা দেশে আনার জন্য প্রাণপণ চেষ্টা করছেন। তার নিবেদন, পরিশ্রম—সবকিছুই অসাধারণ। কিন্তু দুঃখের বিষয়, আমরা এখনো ভোটে পিছিয়ে আছি প্রায় ৪,৫০,০০০ ভোটে।

কিন্তু ভেবে দেখুন—১৭ কোটিরও বেশি মানুষের এই দেশে মাত্র কয়েক লাখ ভোট কোনো সংখ্যাই না! বিশ্বের ৮ম সর্বাধিক জনসংখ্যার দেশে যদি আমরা ভোটে হারি, তবে এর চেয়ে দুর্ভাগ্য আর কিছু হতে পারে না।

আমাদের দেশে অসংখ্য জনপ্রিয় সেলিব্রিটি আছেন, আছেন আর্থিকভাবে সক্ষম মানুষ, যারা চাইলে হাজার হাজার ভোট কিনতে পারেন। আর বিশ্বজুড়ে ছড়িয়ে আছে ১.৫ কোটি প্রবাসী বাংলাদেশি (NRB)। যদি আমরা সবাই একসাথে আসি, তাহলে ইতিহাস গড়া সম্ভব।

চলুন, আজ সব ভুলে শুধু বাংলাদেশকে ভাবি।
