The ULKASEMI Campus Ambassador 2026 program is now inviting applications from eligible third-year students at BRAC University.
This role is intended for students who demonstrate academic engagement in VLSI-related coursework and maintain a clear interest in semiconductor technologies. The selected representative will act as a liaison between students and industry professionals, contributing to knowledge exchange and coordinated communication.
The program provides an opportunity to develop professional responsibility, strengthen technical orientation toward industry practices, and gain exposure to structured corporate engagement.

Vlsi Bracu is delighted to share that our advisor, Dr. Touhidur Rahman Sir, served as the moderator of a key panel discussion titled “From Consumers to Creators: Positioning Bangladesh in the Global Semiconductor and Deep-Tech Value Chain” at the Digital Device & Innovation Expo 2026. The session was particularly impactful for Bangladesh as it directly addressed the country’s transition from being a consumer of foreign technology to becoming an active contributor within the global semiconductor value chain.
Deemed as Bangladesh’s largest technology showcase, the expo was successfully held from January 28 to January 31, 2026, at the Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC), bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, academia, startups, and students under one roof.
The discussion panel was graced by distinguished speakers including M. A. Jabbar, President of the Bangladesh Semiconductor Industry Association; Mr. Lin Hai, Vice President and Director of the Board of Huawei South Asia; Dr. Nadim Chowdhury, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at BUET; Mr. Nahian Rahman Rochi, Executive Member of the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA); Ms. Rudmeela Nawshin, Founder and CEO of ConfigVR and ConfigRbot; and Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, USA. Each of them contributed invaluable perspectives on talent development, investment facilitation, global partnerships, innovation, and ecosystem building for the semiconductor and deep technology sectors in Bangladesh.

A great learning experience at Neural Semiconductor Ltd., where final year students from BSRM School of Engineering, BRAC University took part in a 5-day industrial training focused on practical VLSI industry exposure. Organized under the initiative of VlsiBu by Dr. Touhidur Rahman, this program highlighted the importance of connecting academic knowledge with real semiconductor design practice. Truly a valuable and inspiring opportunity.

We are proud to announce the inauguration of the Center of Research Excellence in Semiconductor Technology (CREST) at BRAC University! This milestone event was held on 29 December, 2025 under the broader Silicon River Ecosystem (BEAR: Biotech, Electronics, AI and Robotics) which brings together leaders from government, academia, industry, the armed forces, and the global Bangladeshi diaspora.
The ceremony began with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Syed Ferhat Anwar, Vice Chancellor of BRAC University, who reaffirmed the university's commitment to advancing frontier research and national technological priorities. The presence of Mr. Md. Anwar Hossain, Honorable Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology, as Chief Guest showed the Government of Bangladesh's support for research-led technological advancement.
A defining moment of the event was the speech by Dr. Muhammad Mustafa Hussain, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University and founder of the Silicon River Initiative, who emphasized that Bangladesh's future global relevance will be shaped by impactful ideas, long-term investment in research talent, and trusted global collaboration. His remarks reinforced the importance of CREST as a national platform for sustained excellence in semiconductor research.
The inauguration also celebrated the announcement of the Inaugural CREST Fellowship, supporting graduate and undergraduate students from multiple universities to work on advanced semiconductor research throughout the year. In addition, innovators were recognized through the BEAR Summit Awards, reinforcing the importance of nurturing young talents.
The inauguration event concluded with a panel discussion titled "Patent Law and IP Protection: Safeguarding Innovation in a Knowledge Economy," which emphasized the importance of intellectual property protection in building a sustainable semiconductor industry in Bangladesh.
From the Vlsi Bracu community, we express our sincere gratitude to our advisor Dr. Touhidur Rahman, whose leadership and vision have continuously guided this community and helped align it with national initiatives such as CREST. This is a paid, contract-based opportunity, not a course assignment and not related to academic grading.

On 18 November 2025, the BSRM School of Engineering of BRAC University signed an MoU with sBIT Limited, to establish a collaborative platform for joint research, IP development, industry-aligned thesis opportunities, and structured talent pipelines.
The agreement was formally signed by Dr. Jahangir Dewan (CEO, sBIT Ltd.) and Professor Dr. Arshad M. Chowdhury (Pro Vice-Chancellor, BRAC University).
The ceremony was graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Md. Mosaddequr Rahman, along with faculty members Dr. Touhidur Rahman, Dr. Twisha Titirsha, and Dr. Mirza Rasheduzzaman, reflecting the department’s commitment to advancing high-impact engineering initiatives. Mr. Abdal Haque Mondol, Senior Engineer at sBIT Ltd., was also present, reflecting the company’s commitment to advancing research and innovation.
