It is a proud moment for us to see Ive Sithi stepping forward as a President Candidate (2025–2026) for DEA IUB. She has already proven her dedication through years of hard work, creativity, and commitment, especially as the Director of Content for the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award at IUB.

Her leadership journey reflects the values of honesty, responsibility, and vision — qualities that make her an inspiring role model for many. ✨ As an indigenous platform, we take pride in her courage to represent, to lead, and to dream big for the future of our community and DEA IUB.

For the first time, Indigenous students at IUB will be able to celebrate their New Year festivals without the fear of missing out on academic responsibilities — thanks to an official attendance waiver approved by the university.

We’re proud to share that Independent University, Bangladesh is currently the 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵 to recognize the cultural and spiritual significance of 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗻, 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗶, 𝗕𝗼𝗶𝘀𝗵𝘂, 𝗕𝗶𝘀𝗵𝘂, 𝗕𝗶𝗵𝘂, 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗶, 𝗕𝗶𝗷𝗵𝘂, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘆𝗮𝗻 with such support.

We are proud to share that members of the IUB Indigenous Students Community actively participated in the 𝗡𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 (𝗜𝗗𝗜𝗟), held on February 24-27, 2025, at the International Mother Language Institute (IMLI), Dhaka.

Pranti Tripura, a Sociology major from the Department of Social Sciences and Humanities, contributed as one of the story writers for 𝗨𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗖𝗢 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵'𝘀 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀: 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗸𝗺𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵. She was joined by our esteemed alumna Bipasha Tripura, who also co-authored stories in this publication.

Our alumni Hla Thoaiching Marma (Administrative Officer, SCMLE) and Ive Sithi Chambugong (Biochemistry and Biotechnology major) actively participated in discussions on Indigenous language preservation.

Dr. Mahmud Hasan Khan, Professor at the Department of English and Modern Languages (DEML) and Executive Director of SCMLE, moderated an insightful session on Education and Indigenous Language Preservation, emphasizing the importance of multilingual education in safeguarding Indigenous heritage.

We are proud to see our community making an impact in preserving and promoting Indigenous languages!

ইন্ডিপেন্ডেন্ট ইউনিভার্সিটির আদিবাসী শিক্ষার্থীদের পক্ষ থেকে সবাইকে জানাই আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবসের আন্তরিক শুভেচ্ছা। ভাষার জন্য আত্মত্যাগীদের প্রতি আমাদের গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও ভালোবাসা। চলুন, মাতৃভাষার মর্যাদা অক্ষুণ্ণ রাখি এবং সকল ভাষা ও সংস্কৃতির প্রতি সম্মান প্রদর্শন করি।

ভাষা শহীদদের প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানাতে Division of Student Affairs (DoSA) আয়োজিত মোমবাতি প্রজ্বলন পর্বে IUB Music Club এর হৃদয়ছোঁয়া পরিবেশনা, সঙ্গে আদিবাসী শিক্ষার্থীদের কণ্ঠে মাতৃভাষার সুর—সব মিলিয়ে একুশের চেতনায় এক অবিস্মরণীয় সন্ধ্যা।

ডিভিশন অফ স্টুডেন্ট এক্টিভিটিস (DoSA) কর্তৃক আয়োজিত, ভাষা শহীদদের শ্রদ্ধায় মোমবাতি প্রজ্বলন পর্বে আইইউবি মিউজিক ক্লাবের পরিবেশনার মাধ্যমে সকলকে জানাই আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস এর শুভেচ্ছা। লাখো শহীদের রক্তের বিনিময়ে অর্জন করা আমাদের এই বাংলা ভাষা। আমাদের প্রাণের ভাষা। বাংলায় হাসি, বাংলায় গাই, বাংলায় হই উচ্ছ্বাসিত আর বাংলায় বাঁধি প্রাণ। ৫২'র সকল ভাষা শহীদদের প্রতি জানাই গভীর শ্রদ্ধা ও কৃতজ্ঞতা। তাদের ত্যাগেই আজ একুশ আমাদের। বাংলা ভাষা আমাদের। এই দিবস আমাদের। অর্জিত এই বাংলা ভাষার গৌরব ও ঐতিহ্য রক্ষা করার দায়িত্বও আমাদেরই। YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/lpG6LjDHj3w?si=ZpQ9QfE285UKLNmB #iubmusicclub

The IUB Indigenous Students Community took the initiative to help those affected by the recent floods in Khagrachhari. On 22 August, we began collecting funds from students to support this cause.

On 28 August 2024, our dedicated students, including Sima Chowdhury, Pranti Tripura, and Himel Chakma, along with local volunteers, distributed relief packages to over 17 families in Rajjomoni Para and Singinala, Khagrachhari. These packages contained essential food items, medicine, and household goods. Additionally, with the remaining funds, we were able to assist 7 more families.

This effort was made possible thanks to your collective support and generous contributions. We extend our deepest gratitude to Hla Thoaiching Dada for the invaluable guidance and to Mahmud Hasan Khan Sir for his generous support.

This initiative is more than just providing aid—it's about coming together as a community, united by compassion and a shared commitment to helping those in need.
