📘 Understanding Sentences in English
A sentence is the foundation of communication. When we understand how sentences work, it becomes much easier to speak clearly, write effectively, and express ideas with confidence.
In English, sentences can be classified in different ways. Based on function, we commonly use four main types:
🔹 Assertive Sentence – makes a statement
Example: She reads a book.
🔹 Interrogative Sentence – asks a question
Example: Do you like English?
🔹 Imperative Sentence – gives a command or request
Example: Close the door.
🔹 Exclamatory Sentence – expresses strong emotion
Example: What a beautiful day!
Understanding these sentence types helps learners build better grammar, clearer communication, and stronger speaking skills.
