An Inspiring Morning of Insights and Connections

Members of the NSU Accounting Club (proposed) had the privilege of attending a meaningful breakfast at the Army Golf Club, graciously hosted and arranged by our esteemed alumnus. This special gathering brought together our esteemed faculties—Mokhdum Morshed Sir, Sheikh Mohammad Rabby Sir, Syed Asif Hossain Sir, and our honorable department Chair, Dr. FJ Mohamein—for insightful discussions. We were also delighted to have our Alumni Mr. Raqibul Faiaze Mohammad IkramahMr. Md. Mohin Uddin, Mr. Mohammad Ahsan Chowdhury, and Mr. Al Amin Redwanur share their valuable experiences and guidance.

A heartfelt thank you to Accounting & Finance Professionals of NSU for the warm hospitality, enriching discussions, and invaluable lessons for our future. We deeply appreciate the unwavering support of our alumni and encourage everyone to stay connected—your wisdom and mentorship continue to inspire and guide us!

𝗣𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆: 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰

The Prize-Giving Ceremony was a celebratory highlight of the event, recognizing the hard work, talent, and enthusiasm of North South University students who participated in the various competitions organized as part of International Accounting Day 2024.

𝗖𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
The most competitive segment of the day, the case competition, attracted over 80 teams. Across two challenging rounds, the teams impressed the judges with their analytical and problem-solving skills. The top three teams that emerged victorious were:
• Champion: Accounting Maestros
• 1st Runner-Up: Team Entale
• 2nd Runner-Up: Double Entry

𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
The poster presentation segment showcased creativity and innovative ideas, with over 65 teams registering. The top posters were displayed in the Department of Accounting & Finance, providing an opportunity for others to admire the work. After careful evaluation, the winners were:
• Champion: Single Entry
• 1st Runner-Up: Profit Pandits
• 2nd Runner-Up: Zarr

𝗤𝘂𝗶𝘇 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻
This segment witnessed an overwhelming response, with 545 students registering—far exceeding expectations. The competition was intense, with winners decided by narrow margins. The top 10 participants were recognized with certificates, while the top 3 winners received prizes:
• Champion: Md. Motasim Billah
• 1st Runner-Up: Kazi Nigar Sultana Tuli
• 2nd Runner-Up: Istiak Shah Newas

The enthusiasm and participation from the students demonstrated the incredible potential within the university community. Each segment highlighted the talent and determination of NSU students, and their efforts were met with loud applause as they received their well-deserved recognition.

𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟰: 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘆

The final session of International Accounting Day 2024 was the Closing Ceremony, which marked a fitting conclusion to this landmark event at North South University.

The ceremony was graced by the esteemed 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝘇𝘂𝗹 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗿 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗼𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲𝘀, 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗥𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘄𝗮𝘆𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗘𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲'𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗰 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗹𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵. As Chief Guest, Dr. Khan captivated the audience with his profound insights, emphasizing the critical role of accounting in nation-building and sustainable economic development. His presence and thoughtful words inspired all in attendance, leaving a lasting impression on students and faculty alike.

Accompanying the Chief Guest were 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝘂𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘆, Vice Chancellor of North South University, and 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗞𝗠 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗹 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗺, Dean of the School of Business and Economics.

The session also included a Prize-Giving Ceremony, where participants were honored for their contributions and achievements throughout the day.

The event concluded with heartfelt Closing Remarks by 𝗗𝗿. 𝗙.𝗝. 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻, Chair of the Department of Accounting & Finance, who expressed deep gratitude to the Chief Guest, distinguished speakers, and the organizing team for their dedication in making International Accounting Day 2024 a historic and impactful celebration.

𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟯: 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸

Our third session, ‘Alumni Talk’, was a showcase of wisdom, inspiration, and experience as some of our accomplished alumni took the stage to share their journeys. The event began with a warm welcome by our very own 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗱. 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘂𝗹 𝗞𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗿 Sir of the Department of Accounting and Finance, who set the stage for insightful exchanges. Each of our distinguished alumni speakers brought a unique perspective to the table:

• 𝗥𝗮𝗾𝗶𝗯𝘂𝗹 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗮𝘇𝗲 𝗠𝗱. 𝗜𝗸𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗵 𝗙𝗖𝗖𝗔: Head of Financial Reporting at Grameenphone, who discussed his extensive experience in audit and financial reporting and had an interactive session with the attendees.

• 𝗠𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗲𝗲 𝗔𝗹 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗺 𝗙𝗖𝗔: Chief Financial Officer at ACI Motors Ltd., who enlightened us on financial management and risk analysis.

• 𝗔𝗹 𝗔𝗺𝗶𝗻 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗙𝗖𝗔, 𝗙𝗖𝗠𝗔: Partner at Ernst & Young, sharing insights from his dual expertise in corporate finance and academia.

• 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗵 𝗠𝗱. 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗻 𝗨𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗖𝗔, 𝗔𝗖𝗔: Senior Partner at Hasan Mohin Chartered Accountants, inspiring future accountants with his dedication to mentorship.

We extend our deepest gratitude to these alumni for reconnecting with the NSU community and for sharing the principles and insights that have guided their successful careers.

𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮: 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗖𝗔 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗺𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆

The second session of International Accounting Day 2024 was an engaging opportunity for attendees to interact with professionals from 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲 and 𝗔𝗖𝗡𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗡 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀. Partners from both firms shared their career journeys, talked about growth prospects in their organizations, and answered thought-provoking questions from the audience.

The distinguished panel included partners from 𝗗𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲: 𝗡𝘂𝗿𝘂𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲, 𝗦𝗸 𝗔𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗸 𝗜𝗾𝗯𝗮𝗹, 𝗔𝘇𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘂𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗾𝘂𝗲, 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗿, and 𝗕𝗮𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗱 𝗠𝗱 𝗙𝗮𝗶𝗮𝘇.

The event also featured partners from 𝗔𝗖𝗡𝗔𝗕𝗜𝗡 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝗠𝗱. 𝗥𝗼𝗸𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘇𝘇𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗻 and 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗺𝘂𝗱𝘂𝗿 𝗥𝗮𝗵𝗺𝗮𝗻.

The interactive discussions and the Q&A segment left the audience with invaluable insights. The session ended with heartfelt thanks and tokens of appreciation presented to the speakers.

International Accounting Day 2024 was a success, and we owe a great deal of gratitude to our incredible partners. From the cutting-edge technology that powered our event to the delectable cuisine that delighted our attendees, every partner played a pivotal role in making this day unforgettable. 𝗦𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟭: 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗕𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴

The event opened with a warm welcome speech from 𝗗𝗿. 𝗙𝗝 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻, Chair of the Department of Accounting and Finance (DAF).

Following the introduction, 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗕𝗠 𝗟𝘂𝘁𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗲, 𝗙𝗖𝗔, Vice President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB), took the stage, sharing valuable insights into the accounting profession. He was succeeded by 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗱. 𝗞𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗿 𝗔𝗹𝗮𝗺, 𝗙𝗖𝗦, 𝗙𝗖𝗖𝗔, 𝗙𝗖𝗠𝗔, 𝗔𝗖𝗔, Vice President of the Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB), who spoke about the significance of ICMAB and its impact on professional development. Representing the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Bangladesh, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗺𝗮 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻, 𝗙𝗖𝗖𝗔, delivered a thought-provoking address, shedding light on ACCA’s global contributions.

Our Guest of Honor, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗦𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗭𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗵, 𝗙𝗖𝗔—the first female Chartered Accountant in Bangladesh—then addressed the audience, inspiring everyone with her achievements and perspectives on the future of accounting in Bangladesh. Finally, our Chief Guest, 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗯𝗱𝘂𝗹 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗮𝗻 𝗖𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗱𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘆, Vice Chancellor of North South University, delivered a congratulatory speech, commending the event’s significance for both students and professionals.

The session concluded with a ceremonial cake-cutting, followed by the presentation of tokens of appreciation to our distinguished guests in recognition of their inspiring contributions to the event.
