North South University student Mohammad Rifat from the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department (Batch 251) was allegedly abducted by two men on an R15 bike from in front of SBG Corporate Jame Masjid.
He was reportedly held for nearly three hours near Bashundhara N Block, brutally assaulted, and left seriously injured. His phone, debit card, credit card, and personal information were taken, and around BDT 20,000â30,000 was allegedly extorted through bKash and Nagad.
At around 1 AM, he somehow managed to free himself from the ropes and ran for his life, but was hit by a truck in the process. He is currently receiving treatment at Kurmitola General Hospital.
He is reportedly the sixth victim.
Today it was him. Tomorrow it could be any of us.

NSU: #1 Private University in Bangladesh -- QS Asia 2025
North South University has become 155th out of 984 universities in Asia, according to QS Asia University Rankings 2025, published today Nov 06, 2024. In other words, we are yet again #1 private university in the country. Also to note, our 155th position makes us the second best university in the country, including all private and public universities.
