On 6 August 2025, the School of Law at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted a special public lecture titled "The July 'Uprising' in Legal Thought," with Dr. Mohammad Shahabuddin, Professor of International Law and Human Rights at Birmingham Law School, UK, as the keynote speaker.

Prof. Dr. SMA Faiz, Chairman of the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, was honoured as the Chief Guest; Mr. Didar A. Husain, Chairman of the IUB Board of Trustees, as the Special Guest; and Prof. M. Tamim, Vice Chancellor of IUB, as the Chair.

The program began with a welcome speech by Professor Dr. Nazmuzzaman Bhuian, Dean of IUB Law School, and concluded with closing remarks and a vote of thanks by Professor Dr. Borhan Uddin Khan, Advisor, IUB Law School. All students and faculty of IUB Law School, as well as guests from other IUB schools and beyond, attended the event.
