The Department of Nuclear Engineering has been established by the Syndicate of Dhaka University in accordance with Dhaka University Ordinance and Regulations 1973 to meet the growing demands for skilled engineers and technologists in the field of Nuclear Engineering. The Government of Bangladesh has decided to build several nuclear power plants within the shortest possible time to mitigate the rec

urring power shortage in the country. Many highly trained nuclear engineers will be needed for operation and maintenance of these power plants. The newly established Department of Nuclear Engineering will contribute in transforming the young Bangladeshi youths into skilled nuclear engineers much needed for the development of the country. To start with the department will offer a three-semester (one and half year) MS course in nuclear engineering. The curriculum has already been approved by the university authorities and classes will start in September 2012. The principal goal of this department is to create human resource for Bangladesh and to enhance employment opportunity of the students by training them in the field of nuclear engineering and to develop their entrepreneurial and leadership abilities so that they can effectively contribute to the development and economic prosperity of Bangladesh. A group of highly qualified teachers and scholars will provide quality education in the department.
