Today, we have the privilege of introducing a true visionary and leader in the field of environmental sustainability.
𝐃𝐫. 𝐈𝐦𝐚𝐦 π‡πšπ¬πšπ§ π‘πžπ³πš, the Director at the Centre for Environment and Sustainability. He was awarded a prestigious Visiting Scholar position in the Department of Urban Studies and Planning at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2017-18. He obtained a Ph.D. from the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, in 2012. Soon after being awarded his Ph.D., Dr. Reza joined as a Senior Lecturer and Fellow at the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and served till 2018. Dr. Reza also worked as the Senior Fellow at the Southeast Asia Disaster Prevention Research Institute (SEADPRI-UKM) between 2012 and 2016. Earlier, he had served as an academic faculty member in public universities in Bangladesh between 1999 and 2012. His research encompasses environmental management, climate change, disaster management, biological conservation, landscape ecology, decision support systems, and sustainability. He is skilled in using modern approaches in his research, including landscape ecological techniques, GIS, and remote sensing. He is highly experienced in numerous project management projects funded by regional and international funding agencies; for example, USAID, Rockefeller Foundation, START, Ministry of Education, Malaysia. Lead author of more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and books, his research is highly cited in scholarly works. He has been contributing as an Associate Editor of Frontiers in Forest and Global Change and Editorial Board Member of a dozen internationally reputed peer-reviewed journals.

Environmental pollution is not a new phenomenon, yet it remains the world’s greatest problem facing humanity, and the leading environmental causes of morbidity and mortality. Man’s activities through urbanization, industrialization, mining, and exploration are at the forefront of global environmental pollution. Both developed and developing nations share this burden together, though awareness and stricter laws in developed countries have contributed to a larger extent in protecting their environment

We continue to exert a major influence on the development of environmental, systems analysis for sustainability and on policy-makers and civil society in meeting the challenges in living sustainably and well. The impact of our research and programme is enhanced by our work in close partnership with diverse stakeholders on sustainable innovation and implementation issues in practice.
