লিঙ্কডিন স্ক্রোল করতে করতে দেখলাম প্রফেসর ইয়াসির খানের (বাংলাদেশী) ক্লাস এন্ডিং ছবি, তিনি ইউনিভার্সিটি অব সাউদার্ন ক্যালিফোর্নিয়ার একজন সহকারী অধ্যাপক। তার ছাত্রদের সঙ্গে সেমেস্টার শেষে (Electrical Engineering (EE105)) একটা গ্রুপ ছবি দেখলাম, দেখেই মাথায় একটা জিনিস বাজলো। স্যার মাটিতে বসে, ছাত্ররা পেছনে দাঁড়িয়ে, আর একজন ছাত্র তো চেয়ারে বসেই আরামে! এখন ভাবলাম এটা যদি আমাদের দেশে হতো! এখানে তো নিয়ম হচ্ছে: স্যার সামনে, মাঝখানে, চেয়ার-টেবিলের VIP জোনে এটাই “সম্মান”। ছাত্র যদি চেয়ারে বসে আর স্যার মাটিতে, তাহলে তো পাঁচজন এসে বলতো, “ছাত্র এত সাহস পেলো কোথায়!”

কিন্তু ভাবলে দেখবেন, সম্মান কখনো চেয়ার-টেবিলের ওপর নির্ভর করে না, নির্ভর করে মানুষের মনের ভেতরের বড়ত্বের ওপর। ছবিটা দেখে বুঝলাম, আমাদের দেশে আমরা এখনো চেয়ার-উঁচু-মানুষ-উঁচু এই তত্ত্বেই আটকানো। কিন্তু সত্যি বলতে কী, সম্মান কখনো আসনে বসে আসে না আসে আচরণে, বিনয়ে, আর মানুষকে মানুষ হিসেবে দেখার ক্ষমতায়। প্রফেসর ইয়াসির খানের এই ছবিটা তাই শুধু একটা ক্লাস-এন্ডিং গ্রুপ ফটো নয় এটা আমাদের সংস্কৃতিকে একটা প্রশ্ন ছুঁড়ে দেয়: সম্মান কি সত্যিই জায়গা-জমির ওপর দাঁড়ায়, নাকি মানুষের আচরণ, বিনয় আর মনের উদারতার ওপর?

আমার সুপারহিরো, আমার আন্ডারগ্র্যাজুয়েট সুপারভাইজার Dr. A. B. M. Sayeed Ud Doulah স্যারকে একটু পরিচয় করাই। আমার কাছে তিনি শুধু একজন শিক্ষক না তিনি ছিলেন আমার গাইড, আমার সাপোর্ট সিস্টেম, আমার অনুপ্রেরণা, এবং আমার জীবনের সবচেয়ে বড় মোটিভেশনগুলোর একজন।

কেন তাকে এত শ্রদ্ধা করি, একটা ঘটনা বললেই বুঝবেন। ক্যাপস্টোন প্রজেক্টের সময় আমার অবস্থা ছিল একেবারে “এরর মেশিন”। প্রতিদিন নতুন ভুল, নতুন সমস্যা, নিজেকে নিজেই বলতাম “again broken, don’t ask how”। লিটারেচার রিভিউ, AI, বায়োমেডিক্যাল সিগন্যাল প্রোসেসিং, এই সবকিছুই আমার কাছে ছিল নতুন। এমনই একদিন মাথা পুরো গুলিয়ে গেল। মনে হলো আমি না বুঝি প্রজেক্ট, না বুঝি সিগন্যাল, আর না বুঝি মেশিন লার্নিং, ডাটা প্রিপ্রোসেসিং। শেষমেশ একদিন সরাসরি স্যারের অফিসে গিয়ে ভেঙে পড়লাম (হ্যাঁ, ঠিক তাই, full emotional damage mode on)। ভাবছিলাম স্যার হয়তো বলবেন, “এইটা কী করলা তুমি?!” কিন্তু না, উনি তো সুপারহিরো চোখের সামনে বসে থাকা আমার ভাঙা CPU-টাকে খুব শান্তভাবে দেখে শুধু বললেন, “একটা ডিপ ব্রেথ নাও”, “একটু রেস্ট নাও”, তারপর নতুনভাবে আবার শুরু করো। ওই কিছুটা কথায়, ওই শান্ত ভরসার গলায়, মনে হলো আমার পুরো সিস্টেম রিবুট হয়ে গেছে। সেদিন বুঝলাম কেউ কেউ শিক্ষক না, লাইফ আপডেটের বোতাম। ওই মানুষটার একটা বাক্যই আমাকে আবার নিজের ওপর বিশ্বাস ফিরিয়ে দিয়েছিল।

আজ যখন ভাবি, আমি যে এতগুলো রিসার্চ পেপার পাবলিশ করেছি, ভালো জার্নাল-কনফারেন্সে কাজ পাঠিয়েছি ( আমার ওয়েবসাইটে: https://sites.google.com/view/mohammad-sakib/home) এর পিছনে স্যারের অবদানের কথা না বললে অন্যায় হবে। স্যারের কাছ থেকে আমি শুধু একাডেমিক বিষয়পত্র শিখিনি; শিখেছি শৃঙ্খলা, নৈতিকতা, নম্রতা, আর কঠিন সময়ে কীভাবে নিজের সাথে যুদ্ধ করতে হয়। আজ আমি একজন প্রভাষক ও গবেষক, আর ক্লাস নেওয়ার সময় সবসময় তার কথা মনে পড়ে “ছাত্রকে শুধু শেখালেই হবে না, তাকে বুঝিয়ে শেখাতে হবে”। তিনি যেভাবে আমাকে গাইড করেছেন, আমি চেষ্টা করি ঠিক সেইভাবে আমার স্টুডেন্টদের পাশে দাঁড়াতে। স্যারের একটা অংশ আমার কাজের মধ্যে থেকে গেছে এটাই আমার সবচেয়ে বড় অর্জন।

আমি সবসময় দোয়া করি আল্লাহ স্যারকে এবং তার পরিবারকে সুস্থ রাখুক, শান্তিতে রাখুক। স্যার সোশ্যাল মিডিয়ায় একটিভ না, তবুও আমি এটা লিখছি কারণ তার অবদান সত্যিই পাবলিকলি বলার মতো। তিনি আমার জীবনটাই বদলে দিয়েছেন, এটা বলা আমার দায়িত্ব।

Everyone waits for motivation.
Winners wait for nothing.

Motivation is temporary.
Discipline is a decision.

Anyone can feel inspired for a few hours.
But the ones who grow?
They show up even on the days they don’t feel like it.

No drama.
No hype.
Just consistency… repeated until it looks like “luck.”

Your dream won’t ask,
“Are you motivated today?”
It will ask,
“Did you show up?”

Progress is often invisible when we are in the middle of it. Small steps, consistent effort, and quietly showing up day after day — they do add up into something meaningful, especially in research.

🚀 A Breakthrough in Non-Contact Bio-Monitoring!

What if we could read the skin’s molecular language — without ever touching it?

A new study in Nature Portfolio introduces a non-contact device that monitors epidermal molecular flux — tracking water v***r, CO₂, and volatile organic compounds without physical contact.

This technology could redefine how they:
🧠 Detect early signs of metabolic or dermatological disorders
🩹 Monitor wound healing — even in fragile or diabetic tissue
🌫️ Assess environmental chemical exposure in real time

Developed by teams at Northwestern University and KIST(Korea Institute of Science and Technology), this system uses a micro-chamber and wireless sensors to capture the skin’s chemical flux — providing a window into health and pathology beyond traditional wearables.

Imagine the implications for:

Thesis Project to Publication!
Alhamdulillah, I’m delighted to share that my 5th supervised undergraduate thesis project has been accepted for publication at the 4th IEEE International Conference on Signal Processing, Information, Communication and Systems (SPICSCON 2025).

Our paper, titled “WasteBelt: A CNN-Based Smart Waste Sorting System with Conveyor Automation and ESP32-CAM Integration,” presents an innovative approach to intelligent waste management through automation and deep learning.

My/Our journal paper titled “CHIC-Pain: Integrating Wearable Sensors and Direct Observation to Identify Sickness and Pain Behavior in Broiler Chickens” is now published in the IEEE Access journal.

In this work, we developed a novel wearable sensor and machine learning-based framework that integrates accelerometer data with direct behavioral observation to identify sickness and pain-related behaviors in broiler chickens. Our approach introduced a robust feature selection method and a Leave-One-Broiler-Out validation strategy, achieving high accuracy and offering a new pathway for real-time poultry health and welfare monitoring.
