'Shobai Miley Shikhi' Promoting inclusion and diversity in schools and homes Welcome to the USAID Shobai Miley Shikhi Project!
We are a unique inclusive education initiative that focusses on realizing the potential of all children across Government Primary Schools in Bangladesh, especially children with special education needs and disabilities who have diverse learning needs. We achieve this through meaningful learning opportunities for these groups using innovative teaching materials, techniques, and learning resources,
an accessible, barrier-free, enabling environment, promoting positive perceptions within communities toward children with special needs and disabilities, and building capacity of the government to deliver inclusive education services for all children. To sustain and add value to our work, we closely collaborate with the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education’s Directorate of Primary Education, other government and non-government actors, schools, parents/caregivers, organizations advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, and the private sector. Our partners include Centre for Disability in Development, National Grassroots Disability Organization, and Inclusive Development Partners. These entities provide technical assistance and know how, further enriching our activities. Come join us on our inclusion journey and invest in our children's future! Our work spans across Dhaka, Khulna, Rangpur divisions and new ones will be added. We will reach 10,000 schools, train 20,000 teachers on inclusive education techniques and approaches under the Special Education Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Framework, across approximately 60 upazilas. We will reach up to 15,00,000 children with our services.
