Bengali.AI, along with IUT Computer Society(IUTCS), is running a nationwide AI competition called "ভাষা-বিচিত্রা" (Language Variety) to find the next big talents in speech recognition for regional dialects.

Despite advancements in Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR), our findings indicate limitations in current technology for accurate zero-shot and fine-tuning performance on local dialects. This challenge highlights a critical area for further research and development. This datathon targets this gap by seeking solutions that enhance ASR capabilities for diverse Bengali dialects, a language lacking extensive technological support for these regional variations.
