Accounting & Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) has organised a public hearing on two Shariah governance exposure drafts in collaboration with the Shariah Board for Islamic Banks of Bangladesh (CSBIB). This would be a good opportunity for Bangladeshi professionals to share their views with the AAOIFI for its consideration.

Congratulations to all the award recipients!

A wonderful discussion happened yesterday! The researchers – Md. Mazbah Uddin and Abdullah Masum – have done comprehensive work on the subject matter. They tried to capture the current practices, identified the Shariah issues and proposed alternative models. Md. Atiqur Rahman Khan Khadem, Dr. Muhammad Omar Foysal, Dr. Yousuf Sultan, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, and AKM Mizanur Rahman added various perspectives that greatly enriched the discussion. The discussion started with the recitation from the Noble Quran by Faisal Ahmed. (After the discussion, Mohammad Humayun Kabir shared his newly launched product and expressed interest in discussing it further.)

We are sure that the researchers will improve their research paper further and publish it in an internationally reputed journal and as a local publication.

We need to work together to address the limitations, particularly to make the Shariah experts, practitioners and regulators aware of the issues and the importance of taking steps to resolve them. The synergy between them is no longer a mere dream; now a reality, Alhamdulillah.
