North South University Law & Mooting Society and the Department of Law, North South University, in collaboration with HWPL and the Bangladesh Forum for Legal & Humanitarian Affairs, successfully organized a high-level academic discussion titled “Institutionalizing Peace for Sustainable Development: Advancing the DPCW-Based Peace Governance through Local Corporations.”
The event, held on Saturday, 13 June 2026 at the Auditorium (AUDI801), North South University, brought together academics, legal experts, and peace advocates to discuss the importance of strengthening peace governance, legal frameworks, and institutional collaboration for achieving sustainable development.
The discussion highlighted the role of local institutions and stakeholders in advancing peace-building initiatives and creating sustainable solutions through dialogue, cooperation, and effective governance.

The Department of Media, Communication and Journalism (MCJ), NSU, was honored to host Dr. Md Abu Naser, Chair, Department of Communications, California State University, Bakersfield, for an insightful talk on “Invest in Yourself: Why a U.S. PhD is Still the World’s Most Powerful Academic Credential.”
The session provided valuable perspectives on pursuing doctoral studies in the United States, academic growth, and building a meaningful research career. 🌍📚

Pro Vice-Chancellor of North South University Visits University Gym, Orders Immediate Action on Safety and Maintenance Issues
Dhaka, Bangladesh - The Pro Vice-Chancellor of North South University, Prof. Nasar U Ahmed, paid an inspection visit to the university gymnasium to address growing concerns regarding defective gym equipment, broken glass panels, safety risks, cleanliness, and the overall condition of the facility.
During the visit, Prof. Ahmed directly interacted with student gym users and listened carefully to their concerns and suggestions regarding the gym environment and services. Students expressed issues related to damaged equipment, maintenance delays, hygiene, and safety measures within the facility.
Expressing concern over the condition of the gym, Prof. Ahmed instructed the gym management to take immediate corrective measures and gave them a strict three-day deadline to resolve all identified issues and improve the overall environment of the gymnasium.
He emphasized the importance of ensuring a safe, clean, student-friendly, and professionally maintained fitness facility for the university community.
The Pro Vice- Chancellor was accompanied by the Director of Operations & Maintenance Mr. Nahid Jahan Hussain, Sr. Coordination Officer Mr. Masum Al Mamun of the Pro-Vice Chancellor office and members of the management team during the inspection visit.

NSU Law & Mooting Society proudly hosted Business Law Talks titled “Law and Economics of Crafting a Budget that May Work for Bangladesh”, bringing together distinguished academicians and legal experts for an insightful discussion on law, economics, and national budgeting.
The session featured Professor AKM Waresul Karim, Professor of Accounting & Dean, School of Business & Economics, North South University, as the Speaker.
Professor Nasar U. Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor of North South University, attended as the Chief Guest, while Professor Abdur Rob Khan, Treasurer of North South University, joined as the Special Guest.
The event also included opening remarks from Professor Md. Rizwanul Islam, Professor of Law & Dean, School of Humanities and Social Sciences, North South University, and closing remarks from Nasmin Jabin Noor, Senior Lecturer & Chair (IC), Department of Law, North South University. The session was moderated by Saquib Rahman, Senior Lecturer, Department of Law, North South University.
