অমর একুশে বইমেলা প্রাঙ্গনে মোড়ক উম্মোচিত হলো প্রফেসর ড. আবু ইউসুফ মোঃ আব্দুল্লাহ রচিত “The Bengal Tragedy in the Partition of India”
২৯ই ফেব্রুয়ারী ২০২৪, অমর একুশে বইমেলা প্রাঙ্গনে মোড়ক উম্মোচিত হয় প্রফেসর ড. আবু ইউসুফ মোঃ আব্দুল্লাহ রচিত “The Bengal Tragedy in the Partition of India” বই এর; বহুল কাঙ্খিত এই বইটির মোড়ক উম্মোচন করেন বাংলা একাডেমি মহাপরিচালক মুহম্মদ নূরুল হুদা।
এ সময় উপস্থিত ছিলেন বইটির লেখক ও ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক প্রফেসর ড. আবু ইউসুফ মোঃ আব্দুল্লাহ, আরো উপস্থিত ছিলেন স্বনামধন্য শিক্ষাবিদ ও গবেষক প্রফেসর ড. আনোয়ারুল করিম, বাংলা একাডেমি এর উপপরিচালক ড. তপন বাগচী, নর্দান বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রো ভাইস চ্যান্সেলর প্রফেসর ড. নজরুল ইসলাম, একই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ডিন অফ বিজনেস ডিপার্টমেন্ট প্রফেসর নাজমুল হাসান, এবং লেখক ও সাহিত্যিক প্রফেসর রকিবুল হাসান সহ আরো অনেকে।
মোড়ক উম্মোচন এর সময়ে বাংলা একাডেমি মহাপরিচালক মুহম্মদ নূরুল হুদা বলেন – “ভারত ভাগের উপরে এমন দারুন বই দেখে আমি অভিভূত, ইতিহাসকে নিজস্ব দৃষ্টিভঙ্গিতে সবাই ব্যাখ্যা করেন আর সেখান থেকেই তরুন প্রজন্মের জন্য তৈরি হয় জ্ঞান এর নতুন সব আধার, ড. আব্দুল্লাহ এর এই রচনা তরুন প্রজন্ম এবং ইতিহাস প্রেমীদের জন্য হয়ে থাকবে দৃষ্টান্ত”
এসময়ে ব্রিটিশ বিরোধী আন্দোলনের সকল বিপ্লবীর প্রতি তিনি শ্রদ্ধাজ্ঞাপন করেন, একই সাথে জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধুর প্রতি শ্রদ্ধা জানান।

প্রফেসর ড. আবু ইউসুফ মোঃ আব্দুল্লাহ রচিত “The Bengal Tragedy in the Partition of India” বইটি; তার লেখা “ভারত ভাগে বাংলার বিয়োগান্তক ইতিহাস” এর ইংরেজি অনুবাদ।

এ গ্রন্থের প্রধান উপজীব্য সাম্প্রদায়িকতা এবং দেশভাগ। বহুল আলোচিত এই গ্রন্থে দেশভাগ ও তার কারণ উদ্ঘাটন এবং দেশভাগের ফলে যে বিয়োগান্তক অধ্যায়ের সৃষ্টি হয়েছিল তার সাথে সম্পর্কযুক্ত প্রতিটি ঘটনাকে গভীরভাবে পর্যালোচনা করা হয়েছে। ভারত ও বাংলা ভাগের নানাবিধ দিক রচনায় ইতিহাস ও গবেষনাধর্মী লেখনীর একটি দারুন সংমিশ্রন এই বইটিতে রয়েছে। প্রকৃত ঘঠনাকে পাঠক সম্মুখে উপস্থাপনের নিরলস প্রয়াস বইটিতে দীপ্যমান। ভারত ও বাংলাভাগের বাঁক বদলের বহু বিচিত্র ঘটনা এতে তথ্য সমৃদ্ধভাবে উপস্থাপিত হয়েছে।

পূর্ব ও পশ্চিম বাংলার এবং সারা বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন স্থানে অবস্থানরত বাঙালিদের মাঝে ব্যপকভাবে আলোচিত ও সমাদৃত হয় এই বইটি।
“ভারত ভাগে বাংলার বিয়োগান্তক ইতিহাস” এর প্রথম ও দ্বিতীয় সংস্করন প্রকাশিত হওয়া মাত্রই তা বিস্ময়কর ভাবে পাঠকবর্গ গ্রহন করে এবং পাঠক সমাজে তা বিপুল সাড়া ফেলে। পাঠকবর্গের বিপুল সাড়া এবং দেশে – বিদেশে প্রিয় বাঙালি ভাই বোনদের অনুরোধে এবং একইসাথে ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশের অন্য ভাষাভাষী মানুষের কাছে পৌছে দিতে বইটি এবার ইংরেজিতে অনূদিত হয়। এ প্রসঙ্গে বইটির লেখক প্রফেসর আব্দুল্লাহ বলেন - “দুই দেশে বিভক্ত হলেও পুরো বিশ্বের সকল বাঙালি আসলে একই শিকড়ে গাঁথা, একই চেতনার ফসল; জাতি হিসেবে বাঙালি সর্বদাই ছিল অসাম্প্রদায়িক, তবুও বাঙালি ভাগ হলো সাম্প্রদায়িকতা ভিত্তিক রাজনীতির কারনে; দেশে – বিদেশে প্রিয় বাঙালি ভাই বোনদের অনুরোধে এবং ভারতীয় উপমহাদেশের অন্য ভাষাভাষী মানুষের কাছে পৌছে দিতেই আমার এই প্রয়াস। নতুন প্রজন্মের কাছে বাঙালির ইতিহাস এবং ভারত ভাগে বাংলার বিয়োগান্তক অধ্যায়কে পৌছে দিতে চাই। আর তাই পাঠক সমাজ আমায় প্রতিবারের মতো এবারো সানন্দে গ্রহন করবেন বলে আমি বিশ্বাস করি”

অপসংস্কৃতির আঘাতে বাংলা ভাষার বিকৃতি ও নতুন প্রজন্মের অবক্ষয়

আমাদের ব্যর্থতার কারনে একুশ ও মুক্তিযুদ্ধের চেতনাকে আমরা তরুন প্রজন্মের কাছে পৌছে দিতে পারিনি। আমাদের ব্যর্থতা আমাদের নতুন প্রজন্মের অবক্ষয়ের কারন। বিশ্ব যে পরিবর্তনের মধ্য দিয়ে যাচ্ছে, সে পরিবর্তনে নিজেদের নিজস্বতা আর স্বকীয়তা হারিয়ে যেতে দিতে আমরা পারি না। পরিবর্তনকে হাতিয়ার করে শুদ্ধতা বজায় রেখে বাংলাভাষাকে বিশ্ব দরবারে তুলে ধরতে হবে আমাদের। আজকে এ তরুণ সমাজই তো প্রজন্ম থেকে প্রজন্মে ছড়িয়ে দেবে মহান একুশের চেতনা। ভাষা আন্দোলনের সাত দশকে নতুন প্রজন্মের কাছে এটাই প্রত্যাশা।
একুশ আমাদের গর্ব, একুশ আমাদের অহঙ্কার।
