বঙ্গবাজার শপিং কমপ্লেক্সে মার্কেটের একটি দোকানে আরেকটি বড় অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনায় প্রজেক্ট সুরক্ষা গভীরভাবে শোকাভিভূত। তথ্যমতে কমপ্লেক্সে প্রায় ২,৫০০ দোকান ছিল, যার বেশিরভাগই পুড়ে ছাই হয়ে গেছে। সকাল ৬টা ১০ মিনিটে শুরু হওয়া আগুন কিছুটা নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনতে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের প্রায় ৫০টি ইউনিট সাড়ে ছয় ঘণ্টা পরিশ্রম করেন।

প্রজেক্ট সুরক্ষা- Project Shurokkha initiated after listening to a story from Sharmin (14 years old teenage girl)- "One day she found a lizard in her period cloth" and then Roksana, Rupa, Jerin.... stories went on! We became short of words. So we 06 university students came up with the idea "Menstrual health & hygiene management" should be the prime targeted issues that need to be solved.

প্রজেক্ট সুরক্ষা- Project Shurokkha formed a module containing a basic understanding of menstrual health, Pad disposal, mental health, food & nutrition within, menstrual cycle, reproductive health, menstrual products, and finally introduced REUSABLE PAD. We started to see changes among them, inspirations, acceptance & importantly taboos were marked up.

"আপা জানেন, আমাগো এইখানে মাসিক হওয়ার পরের দিনই সবাইকে মিষ্টি খাওয়ানো হয়", বলেছিল মোহাম্মপুর জেনেভা ক্যাম্পের বিহারি কমিউনিটির একজন ১৪ বছর বয়সী কিশোরী।

এখন প্রশ্ন আসতে পারে, কেন প্রথম মাসিকের পরে আত্নীয় স্বজনের মাঝে মিষ্টি দেওয়া হয়ে থাকে? জানলে অবাক হবেন এখনো কিছু পিছিয়ে পড়া জনগোষ্ঠী মাসিককে বিয়ের প্রথম সংকেত হিসেবে গ্রহন করে। এবং বিয়ের জন্য সেই কিশোরী প্রস্তুত বলে ধরে নেয়া হয়। তারই ধারাবাহিকতায় প্রথম মাসিককে সুখবর হিসেবে বিবেচনা করে মিষ্টি বিতরণ করা হয়।

ঋতুস্রাব সংক্রান্ত ভুল ধারণা নারীদের জন্য মারাত্মক হতে পারে। বিষয়টি অনেক সংস্কৃতিতে একটি নিষিদ্ধ বিষয় থেকে গেছে। বাংলাদেশ পরিসংখ্যান ব্যুরোর জাতীয় হাইজিন সার্ভে ২০২০ এর তথ্যমতে বাংলাদেশের ৩০% মেয়ে শিক্ষার্থী রিপোর্ট করেছে যে তারা ঋতুস্রাবের কারণে প্রতি মাসে ০৩ দিন স্কুল যেতে পারে না। প্রতি বছর মোট এক মাসের মতো ক্লাসে তারা অনুপস্থিত থাকছে।

মাসিকের স্বাস্থ্যবিধি ব্যবস্থাপনার উন্নতিতে ব্যাপক অগ্রগতি হওয়া সত্ত্বেও, অনেক কাজ করা বাকি আছে এবং এর জন্য আরও পদক্ষেপ এবং বিনিয়োগ প্রয়োজন যেমন: বয়স-উপযুক্ত মাসিক স্বাস্থ্যবিধি শিক্ষা সম্প্রদায়ের স্তরে এবং স্কুলগুলিতে প্রদান করা উচিত যাতে আমাদের কিশোরীরা বয়ঃসন্ধিতে পৌঁছানোর আগে পর্যাপ্ত জ্ঞান এবং নির্দেশনা পেয়ে থাকে। ঋতুস্রাবের পূর্বে ট্যাবু সম্পর্কে সম্বোধন করা উচিত এবং ইতিবাচক সামাজিক নিয়মগুলি প্রচার করা উচিত।

এসকল বিষয়কে বিবেচনা করে প্রজেক্ট সুরক্ষা একটি অনলাইন ভিত্তিক কার্যক্রম পরিচালনার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে যেখানে পিছিয়ে পড়া নারী ও কিশোরীরা মাসিক স্বাস্থ্য সম্পর্কে যথাযথ তথ্য সংগ্রহ করতে পারবে এবং জিজ্ঞাসা তুলে ধরতে পারবে।

প্রজেক্ট সুরক্ষা- Project Shurokkha has been nominated for the “Amra Notun Young Changemakers’ Award” in BRAC Hope Festival to recognize the empathy and enterprising spirit of the young people of Bangladesh. Among 750 individual alumni and 75 community projects, Project Shurokkha proudly took the place in the Top 10 Community Projects.

Among 75 stories, 37 were from Dhaka, 18 were from Rangpur, 12 were from Khulna, and 8 were from Chattogram. After the primary assessment, 10 stories were shortlisted keeping BRAC’s five strategic pillars (Gender equality, education and skills, economic empowerment, climate change, and health) and values in mind.

From these 10 stories, only 03 will receive the grand award and recognition on the 11th of February during BRAC HOPE Festival from BRAC in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Thanks to all our supporters, donors, and collaborators for inspiring us and taking the lead to confront the cause.

Let's build a better Bangladesh by establishing the right to reproductive health, menstrual health & hygiene management.

আমরা সকলেই জানি, চট্টগ্রামের সীতাকুণ্ডের সোনাইছড়ি ইউনিয়নের একটি কনটেইনার ডিপোতে ভয়াবহ বিস্ফোরণ হয়েছে গতকাল রাত ১১ঃ০০ টায়। বিস্ফোরণে ঘটনাস্থল থেকে অন্তত ০৪ কিলোমিটার এলাকা কেঁপে ওঠে। আশপাশের বাড়ি–ঘরের জানালার কাঁচ ভেঙে পড়ে। এখন অব্দি ফায়ার সার্ভিসের ০৬ জন ও ২১ জন আহত হয়েছে। শতাধিক হাসপাতালে চিকিৎসারত এবং ৩৮ জন স্পট ডেথ। এই মুহূর্তে আহতদের স্যালাইন, খাবার পানিয় ও চিকিৎসার ঔষধের ব্যাপক প্রয়োজন।

চট্টগ্রামের এই দুর্ঘটনায় আমরা দূরে থেকে যেভাবে সাহায্য করতে পারি তা হল আর্থিক মাধ্যমে। প্রজেক্ট সুরক্ষা এবং 'এক বেলার অন্নপূর্ণা - Ek Belar AnnapurnaAnnapurna' এর পক্ষ থেকে আমরা একটি ডোনেশন ক্যম্পেইন করছি। যা দ্রুততর অবস্থায় চট্টগ্রামে অবস্থানরত আমাদের Amra Notun Network এর এলামনাই এর কাছে পৌছে দেয়া হবে, যিনি বর্তমানে আছেন চট্টগ্রাম মেডিকেলে।

In 2014, the United Nations General assembly declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship. In fact, education & training for youth is central to the achievement of the 2030 agenda that directly mention Sustainable Development Goal 04- Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

🇧🇩 But In Bangladesh, most of the marginalized & grass-root communities are still not getting enough facilities for skill development. Due to technological inefficiency, lack of internet service, motivation & proper guidelines for skill development a larger community is lacking behind the advantages of skills development & empower. Unfortunately, the unemployment rate with tertiary education of women is 21.4%.

✊ Let's come together to mitigate the disparity in education, skill development, & employability among the marginalized community & grass root people.

🇧🇩 19 Bangladeshis have received The Diana Award - which is the highest accolade a person can achieve for their social action or humanitarian efforts.

🏆 Founder and President of Moshal Mental Health, Maria Mumu, and Rijve Arefin - Co-Founder of Awareness 360 - have received The Diana Award for going above and beyond in their daily life to create and sustain positive change.

🏆 On the other hand, three members of Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD) - the youth wing of JAAGO Foundation - have also received The Diana Award. The recipients are Md Mahbubul Abrar, Md Mostofa Zaman, and MD Shawket Arafat.

🏆 Anbid Zaman has received the prestigious Award for his voluntary service in advocating for LGBTQI Human Rights in Bangladesh.

🏆 Sagar Mazumder - COO of the edutech startup Nerdiz.com - has also received The Diana Award.

🏆 Khadiza Ahsan has received the award for her work at WeMen View - which works day and night to preach consent and gender equality in Bangladesh.

🏆 Murshidul Alam Bhuiyan, - Co-Founder of “Team Bertho”, a platform delegated to the course of education through spreading human wisdom - has also received the prestigious award.

🏆 Yusuf Munna - the Founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit creative platform named Reflective Teens - has also received the award.

🏆 Anika Subah Ahmad Upoma - the Founder and President of Evolution 360 - has received the accolade.

🏆 Gulnahar Mahbub Monika - Co-Founder of Deshi Ballers - has received the prestigious Diana Award.

🏆 Sadid Bin Hasan - who helped mentor 100,000 students both in-person and online through his mentorship platform, ‘CrossRoads Initiative’ - has received the award.

🏆 Anas Hossain Makki got the award for his organisation ‘Safewheel’ - which works to reach every doorstep of Bangladesh with affordable healthcare.

🏆 Sidratul Moontaha - initiator of ‘Bangladesh Chapter of Technovation Girls’ - received the award.

🏆 Muhammad Afjal Sultan Safi - Founder of Doorbin Foundation - has received the award.

🏆 Lamea Tanjin Tanha - Founder of TransEnd - received the award.
🏆 Sarker Tanvir Ahmed - a well-known youth parliamentarian in his community - has received the award.

🏆 Finally, Afruza Tanzi - who has provided financial literacy classes to over 700 young girls and women, arts and crafts training for 100 women - has received The Diana Award
