Episode 8 – “From Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics to Data Science: The Journey of Anik Iqbal”
He spent his early career studying the behavior of quantum liquids and theoretical physics—but today, he uses algorithms to solve deeply human problems.
In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Anik Iqbal, a Data Scientist who made the rare and fascinating pivot from Physics to Computer Science. Starting his journey at the University of Dhaka and earning his PhD in Physics from the University of Iowa, Anik transitioned from analyzing and teaching the abstract laws of the universe to building practical, life-saving technologies.
In this episode, we explore: • The “Why” and “How” of shifting from Theoretical Physics to Computer Science • How mCARE is bridging the healthcare gap for neurodiverse children in Bangladesh • The role of AI and data in solving real-world social challenges

Episode 7 – The Titans Converge: A Historic Dialogue with Nafiz Ishtiaque & Wasif Ahmed
For our season finale, we are breaking tradition to bring you a landmark event. For the first time in our history, we are hosting a dual-feature episode with two of the most distinguished theoretical physicists to emerge from Bangladesh.
We welcome back Wasif Ahmed (featured in Episode 3), who joins us from UC Santa Barbara, where he continues his advanced research in theoretical physics.
And joining him, one of the most accomplished alumnus we have had in the last few years, is none other than Dr. Nafiz Ishtiaque.
Nafiz is a theoretical physicist with a truly global footprint. After completing his undergrad at the University of Dhaka, he obtained his Masters and PhD from the prestigious Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. Later he held postdoctoral positions at IAS (Princeton) and IHES (France). He is now an Associate professor at Shanghai Institute for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences. His work on String Theory, Integrability, Categorical Symmetry and Supersymmetry is redefining what we know about the universe's structure.
This is the definitive event of the year. Do not miss this historic conversation.

Episode 6 – “Unveiling the Invisible: Exploring Neutrinos with Aklima Khanam”
They pass through you, trillions every second-yet you never notice them. Neutrinos, the so-called “ghost particles,” might just hold the key to understanding the deepest mysteries of the cosmos.
In this episode, meet Aklima Khanam, a physicist at Syracuse University working on the NOvA experiment at Fermilab. Her research dives into the elusive world of muon neutrinos, particles that rarely interact, but tell extraordinary stories about the universe’s fundamental workings. From massive detectors buried in the Midwest to the precision of data analysis and coding, Aklima reveals how physics, computation, and curiosity come together to decode the invisible.
In this episode, we explore:
• How neutrinos could unlock the secrets of matter and antimatter
• The transition from nuclear engineering to experimental particle physics
• Why some of the universe’s smallest particles might answer its biggest questions

Episode 5 – "Next Door to the Universe: Mapping Our Local Cosmic Neighborhood"
We look up at the night sky and see pinpricks of light—distant, mysterious, untouchable. But what if the biggest discoveries in astrophysics are happening right next door? In our own cosmic backyard?
Meet Istiak H Akib—an astrophysicist who isn’t staring at the edge of the known universe, but intently studying our very own Local Group of galaxies. Using some of the world’s most advanced telescopes and simulations, he’s piecing together the dynamic, dramatic, and often violent relationships between galaxies like Andromeda, Triangulum, and our Milky Way.
In this episode, we explore:
- What the Local Group can teach us about galaxy evolution everywhere
- How observational data transforms into cosmic insight
- Why sometimes, the biggest questions are hiding closest to home
