Guitar tips #6

Sore finger is the number one complaint when learning guitar. However, fingertip soreness is temporary and can last a week or more.

The best remedy is, simply playing guitar until you build up some calluses, and the soreness will go away.

Also, get rid of the old rusty strings and try lighter strings. Make sure the strings are not set too high from the fretboard.

If you learn the basic chords and can play a few songs, you will want to learn more. The whole idea is to try to keep advancing in your playing. If you get bored, you will not learn anything.

Try learning some easy chord combinations, like G - D - C - D or any other open chord combinations and search for songs that use these chords. This can help keep you motivated if you are learning actual songs.

Lastly, learning scales and that kind of things are extremely valuable but make sure to spend a good amount of time doing things on the guitar that you find fun.

We know that finger exercises are boring! But giving your hands and fingers a work out will help you to hold the guitar and manipulate the way chords require your fingers to move into odd positions. Do finger stretches and work the fingers up and down portions of the neck.

Start out your journey with an electric tuner or tuner app and pay close attention to what in tune sounds like. Listen to the pitch carefully and you will be able to tune by ear over time.
