Houston-based startup Venus Aerospace has achieved a historic milestone by completing the first U.S. flight test of a Rotating Detonation Rocket Engine (RDRE) at Spaceport America, New Mexico. This game-changing success propels us closer to the era of hypersonic flight from standard runways, aiming for Mach 4 to Mach 6 speeds.
The RDRE is smaller, more efficient, and more cost-effective than traditional rocket engines. It’s engineered to work alongside Venus’s air-breathing detonation ramjet, allowing for sustained hypersonic cruise without boosters. This revolutionary tech is the foundation for their future hypersonic passenger aircraft, the Stargazer M4.
Venus Aerospace joins the ranks of forward-thinking U.S. aerospace startups—like Anduril, Hermeus, Castelion, Ursa Major, and Kratos Defense—all pushing boundaries in hypersonic innovation as the U.S. keeps its edge in the global aerospace race.

Turkish Airlines flight makes emergency landing in Dhaka after engine fire
Bird strike blamed for fire in engine as the plane took off with 280 passengers and 11 crew members
The flight was forced to make an emergency landing at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) after a bird strike caused one of its engines to catch fire moments after takeoff.
The incident happened around 7:00 am on Tuesday when , an Airbus A330-303, departed from Dhaka for Istanbul with and 11 crew members on board.
Airport authorities said the aircraft returned safely and no one was injured.
"Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft struck a bird, which caused sparks in one of the engines. The pilot decided to return immediately and landed the plane safely," said Group Captain SM Ragib Samad, Executive Director of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Witnesses and officials confirmed that fire sparks were visible from one of the engines during the brief flight.
Emergency response teams were kept on alert at the airport, but the aircraft landed without further incident.
Airport officials said all passengers were safely evacuated, and alternative arrangements were being made for their onward journey.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) has launched an investigation into the incident.
