Last week, MAD has participated in the 3rd edition of Fempowerement, a tournament for WGM debaters hosted by BDC. With 3 out of 5 wins, MAD , consisting of Subaita Arwaa , Raisa Anjum Sheikh and Nash*ta Binte Kauser , ended their run as the last reserve breaking team. (Unfortunately )

Additionally, Subaita Arwaa broke as the 10th best open speaker in the tournament, make it her second speaker break in a row from last year's Fempowerement

Last but not least , Seeam Marjan broke as an Adjudicator in the tournament .

We wish all of our debaters all the best for their upcoming journey and we are proud of all our members.

Backstory for our logo

This tree has been the guardian of every Manarite ever. This tree is just another tree to everyone else but anyone who studied in Manarat knows the value it holds in our heart. From possible haunted stories to giving shade to every young kids - it has been our guardian. For MAD it holds a special place in our heart. Last year, when this magnificent beauty fell, every manarite was hurt.
So , as a tribute to our old friend, we made her our symbol- hoping to carry her in our hearts forever ❤️

Recently, MAD has participated in two of the most important school debating tournaments in the calendar year - BDC Pre-Worlds and BDC Fempowerment. With a strong showing in Pre-Worlds and a promising hope for the future in Fempowerment, MAD has made us all proud.

All three members of MAD 1 have made it to National Camp - the bootcamp where 40 debaters are thoroughly tested across multiple stages to determine the top five who will represent our nation in the World Schools Debating Championship 2021 at Macau. Seeam Marjan and Hasibul Kadir secured their spot by ranking as the 5th and 9th best speakers in Pre-Worlds respectively. Subaita Arwaa showed a dominant and spectacular performance in BDC Fempowerment - an all women debate tournament dedicated to unlocking their endless potential - by ranking as the 9th Best Speaker.

It is after 8 years that three members of MAD made it to natcamp. Fingers crossed for more next year, and high hopes for who made it to camp this year!

(Arwaa's success begged a big question in the Manarat contingent- is Arwaa the best female debater Manarat has seen since 2015? 🤔 What do you think?)

MAD-1 (Subaita Arwaa, Seeam Marjan, Hasibul Kadir) had a brilliant run in Online Pre-WSDC 2020, where they were ajudged as the 4th best team but sadly ended their run as the quarterfinalists. Seeam Marjan was crowned as the 5th best speaker, while Hasibul ranked as the 10th best speaker of Bangladesh.

MAD-2, comprised of Tahsin, Rizvi and Nash*ta, sadly ended their run with only 3 wins.

Congratulations to all of them and we wish the best to Hasibul and Seeam for Natcamp Phase-1, where they will compete to be selected for the Macau WSDC 2021 team!

We would also like to wish best of luck to our amazing female debaters for the upcoming BDC Fempowerment and have high hopes for them. Go make us proud!

MAD-1 ended their glorious run on DSDC Coherence 2020, a tournament that consisted of university and foreign teams, as High School Finalists. Congratulations to DGBHS for being the champions!

MAD was the 1st breaking high school team and 4th team overall in the open category based on their speaks. Seeam was the best high school speaker, even managing to rank as the 3rd best open speaker. Hasibul followed closely as the 2nd best high school speaker and 9th best open speaker.

Special note: Hasibul thinks getting Closing Government in the final is instant bad luck for them. We blame his lack of practice instead 😡
