Recruitment Notice for Full-time Local Chinese Teachers of Shanto Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom in Bangladesh

To meet the needs of Chinese language teaching and Chinese cultural promotion at Shanto Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom in Bangladesh, and ensure the orderly development of international Chinese language education, we are now openly recruiting full-time local Chinese teachers in Bangladesh. The relevant details are as follows:

I. Application Time & Arrangement

Qualified applicants are required to go to Honghe Confucius Classroom on May 18, 2026 to submit relevant supporting documents and take the on-site interview.

II. Eligibility Requirements

1. Must be a citizen of Bangladesh or a person with permanent residency in Bangladesh.

2. Requirements for academic qualifications and teaching experience:- Applicants with a bachelor's degree must have at least 3 academic years of relevant Chinese teaching experience;- Applicants with a postgraduate degree in humanities and social sciences such as International Chinese Language Education, Chinese Language, Education, History, etc. must have 1 academic year of Chinese teaching experience;- Applicants with a postgraduate degree in non-humanities and social sciences must have 2 academic years of Chinese teaching experience;- International students with a master's degree in International Chinese Language Education will be given priority under the same conditions.

3. Language proficiency requirements:
- For those whose first language is not Chinese, Chinese proficiency shall reach HSK Level 5 with a score of 180 or above, and oral Chinese proficiency shall reach HSKK Intermediate with a score of 60 or above;- For those whose first language is Chinese, they must have no less than 2 years of Chinese teaching experience.4.Applicants holding the Certificate for International Chinese Language Teachers issued by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation will be given priority. If the certificate is not obtained at the time of employment, the candidate must obtain it within the first funding cycle; otherwise, the employment will not be renewed.

III. Workload Standard Full-time teachers shall work no less than 40 hours per week (subject to the actual employment requirements of the Confucius Classroom), fully undertake Chinese teaching, Chinese cultural promotion, Chinese proficiency test organization and other related work, with no less than 15 teaching hours per week (45 minutes per class hour).

Awarding Ceremony of the 4th Chinese Language Training Program for Bangladesh Civil Servants successfully held at BCS Administration Academy

On April 24, the Certificate Awarding Ceremony of the 4th Chinese Language Training Program for Civil Servants was successfully held at the Bangladesh Civil Servants Administration Academy (BCSAA).The event was attended by over 150 guests, including Mr. Md. Abdul Bari, State Minister of the Ministry of Public Administration; Mr. Md. Ehsanul Haque, Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Public Administration; Dr. Mohammad Altaf-Ul-Alam, Rector of the BCSAA; and Dr. Molla Mahmud Hasan, Course Director of the BCSAA. Also present were Associate A/Prof. Wang Liqiong, Chinese Director, and Prof. Mohiuddin Taher, Bangladeshi Director of the Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom, along with instructors and trainees from the 140th, 141st, and 142nd batch courses.Focusing on practical Chinese for official scenarios, the program equipped trainees with essential language skills through systematic study, and all participants successfully completed their coursework. During the ceremony, Bangladeshi leaders presented certificates to the trainees, encouraging them to apply what they have learned and act as promoters of Bangladesh-China friendship. In their speech, the student representative reflected on the gains made during the learning process, expressed sincere gratitude to the teachers and administrative staff, and conveyed a strong desire to maintain contact and further study the Chinese language, showcasing the deep friendship fostered by the project among the participants.As a partner in the project, the Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom will continue to play its role as a bridge and bond. And to cultivate more talent, Bangladeshi Civil Servants who understand and are friendly towards China can make people-to-people exchanges between the two nations closer, more sincere, and more pragmatic.

SMHHCC successful held the 2026 International Chinese Language Day Event and the 2nd Comprehensive Chinese Proficiency Competition

On April 23, 2026, the 2026 International Chinese Language Day Event and the 2nd Comprehensive Chinese Proficiency Competition were held in Shanto-Mariam Honghe Confucius Classroom(SMHHCC). Following the previous system, the competition featured “Vocabulary Recognition” and “Chinese Speech” tracks, with 17 out of 22 registrants taking the stage.

Chinese Director Wang Liqiong emphasized that Chinese characters are the bedrock of language and culture. She advised learners to master characters via their pictographic and associative features, radical classification, and practice-integrated study.

after fierce competition, the Vocabulary Recognition contest awarded one First Prize, one Second Prizes, two Third Prizes, and two Excellent Awards; the speech contest awarded one First Prize, two Second Prizes, three Third Prizes, and five Excellent Awards.

Bangladeshi Director Mohiuddin Taher concluded, “Life is a stage; everyone performs.” He urged learners to embrace participation, perseverance, and adaptability, stressing that consistent practice unlocks potential for broader success.

Shanto-Mariam–Honghe Confucius Classroom Successfully Holds 2026 International Chinese Language Day Event— Special Session at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Bangladesh

On April 20, 2026, the Shanto-Mariam–Honghe Confucius Classroom(SMHHCC) successfully held the “Chinese Culture Experience & Chinese Language Program Promotion Campaign” at the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT), Bangladesh, to celebrate International Chinese Language Day.The event was hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of China and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, organized by the SMHHCC and IUBAT, and co-organized by the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka(CIDU) and the Confucius Institute at North South University(CINSU). More than 200 participants, including representatives from the Chinese Embassy, university leaders, faculty members, and students, attended the event.In the event, Prof. Selina Nargis highlighted that learning Chinese creates opportunities and strengthens China-Bangladesh friendship; Mr. Li Shaopeng noted that Chinese serves as a bridge connecting China and the world and encouraged students to promote bilateral friendship; Director Wang Liqiong emphasized that Chinese proficiency expands opportunities for Bangladeshi students and reaffirmed commitment to further cooperation in Chinese language education.A variety of Chinese and Bangladeshi cultural performances were presented, including Air Volleyball, Chinese martial arts, Guzheng, and traditional Chinese dance, as well as Bangladeshi traditional dances performed by IUBAT students and faculty, fully demonstrating the vitality of cultural exchange between the two countries.During the Chinese language promotion session, a teacher from SMHHCC introduced the curriculum system and the HSK test, offering students a clear pathway for Chinese language learning. Representative of IUBAT’s first Chinese class, Ms. Marjia Akter, shared her personal experience of learning Chinese, which greatly inspired the audience and stimulated students’ interest in Chinese language study. A graduation ceremony for the first Chinese language class at IUBAT was also held. Prof. Abdur Rab, Vice-Chancellor of IUBAT, concluded by praising China’s civilization, encouraging Chinese study, and supporting continued cooperation with China.A cultural experience zone featuring Chinese calligraphy, paper-cutting, mask painting, Hanfu experience, tea culture, and interactive activities attracted wide participation. Meanwhile, Bangladeshi traditional food and handicrafts were also showcased, creating a friendly and engaging atmosphere for mutual cultural appreciation.The event further enhanced the influence of Chinese language education at IUBAT and injected new momentum into China-Bangladesh educational and cultural exchange. SMHHCC Students Shine in the Final of Into the Voice—The First Chinese Film and TV Drama Dubbing Competition in Bangladesh

On April 18, 2026, the Final of Into the Voice—The First Chinese Film and TV Drama Dubbing Competition in Bangladesh was successfully held at the Auditorium of the School of Modern Languages, University of Dhaka. Hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, the event was co-organized by the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka, the Confucius Institute at North South University, and Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom.Before the competition, Professor Mohammad Absar Kamal, Foreign Director of the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka, and Mr. Li Shaopeng, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh, delivered speeches successively, highly appreciating the innovative significance of this event. A total of 11 groups of contestants participated in the competition, showing solid Chinese proficiency and excellent performance skills. Among them, the contestants representing the Confucius Classroom delivered a steady performance and won the Third Prize.As the International Chinese Language Day is approaching, Dr. Yang Hui, the Chinese Director of the Confucius Institute at University of Dhaka, noted in the closing speech that such a vivid event celebrates the special occasion and enables more students to experience the beauty of the Chinese language through dubbing practice, further promoting Chinese language learning and cultural exchanges in Bangladesh.

On April 16, 2026, the Preliminary Selection of the 25th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students in Bangladesh, was successfully held at the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka(CIDU). The competition was hosted by the CIDU, and co-organized by the Confucius Institute at North South University and the Shanto-Mariam-Honghe Confucius Classroom(SMHHCC).
A total of seven contestants from the SMHHCC participated in the trial. After intense competitions in three sessions: vocabulary recognition, Chinese speech and talent show, two students from the SMHHCC, Jannatul Ferdus Toha (安舒瑶) and Rabeya Akter (兰雅), advanced to the final round.
The final round is holding in May. We wish the two contestants excellent results in the final!
