Meet Honghe, Feel China— 2026 “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp Series (III): Returning with Lasting Memories and Enduring Friendship
Recently, the 2026 "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp, themed "Meet Honghe, Feel China," hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation and organized by Honghe University, came to a successful conclusion. Under the guidance of Shi Qiao, a teacher from the Shanto-Mariam–Honghe Confucius Classroom (SMHHCC), 19 students from Bangladesh successfully completed the two-week study and exchange program.
On the day before the closing ceremony, the students visited local families and participated in cross-cultural exchange activities. By experiencing Chinese family life firsthand, they gained a closer understanding of Chinese hospitality and lifestyles. For many students, this was a rare opportunity for intercultural exchange that enabled them to develop a more comprehensive and profound understanding of Chinese society.
At the closing ceremony, Hu Fawen, Dean of the School of Education of Honghe University, and the Chinese and Bangladeshi directors of the SMHHCC delivered speeches. Both sides noted that China and Bangladesh enjoy a close friendship and deep mutual understanding. They described the summer camp as a valuable platform for cultural exchange and expressed their hope for further cooperation in education and culture, allowing the friendship between the two countries to flourish for years to come.
In his concluding remarks, Ma Kun, Director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of Honghe University, encouraged the students to continue their Chinese studies after returning home, serve as active promoters of cultural exchange between China and Bangladesh.
During the presentation session, Chinese and Bangladeshi teachers and students jointly showcased ceramic artworks, poetry recitations, textbook skits, traditional costume shows, dance performances, and a chorus of Chinese songs. These performances vividly demonstrated the unique charm of cultural integration between the two countries.
As Zerin Zahan, the student representative from Bangladesh, expressed in her speech, the summer camp enabled her to truly appreciate the beauty of Chinese characters, the richness of the Chinese language, and the profound depth of Chinese culture. She was also deeply touched by the warmth and friendliness of the Chinese people. This unforgettable experience will undoubtedly blossom into a lasting friendship among the youth of China and Bangladesh.The experiences and observations throughout the summer camp also left a deep impression on every participant.
After the program, many students shared their reflections and achievements in writing. Some noted that the camp not only improved their Chinese proficiency but also allowed them to experience the unique charm of Chinese culture firsthand. Others wrote that they would greatly miss their time in China after returning to Bangladesh and hoped to study in China again in the future. Their reflections recorded moments of learning, communication, and personal growth while expressing their affection for their Chinese friends and their reluctance to part with this precious experience.
With this, the 2026 "Chinese Bridge" Summer Camp, themed "Meet Honghe, Feel China," has successfully concluded. Nineteen young people from Bangladesh crossed mountains and seas to gather in Honghe, enhancing mutual understanding through language learning, experiencing China through cultural activities, and building friendships through exchange and mutual learning. They will bring back to Bangladesh what they have seen, heard, and learned in China, helping to strengthen China–Bangladesh friendship and inspiring a brighter future for the youth of both countries.
SMHHCC will continue to serve as a platform for language and cultural exchange, actively promoting mutual learning among Chinese and Bangladeshi youth. It will encourage more young people in Bangladesh to learn about and better understand China through the Chinese language, contributing youthful energy to the continued development of China–Bangladesh friendship.
