Welcomes our newly appointed Professor to the academic family

Professor A.K.M. Amirul Islam, ndc has a strong foundation in mechanical engineering both academically and professionally. He joined in “world university of Bangladesh” in the Department of Mechatronics Engineering on 1st May, 2026 as a professor. He completed his M. Engineering (IPE) and B.Sc Engineering (Mechanical) both from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka. He began his career as a lecturer in the Mechanical Engineering department at BIT, Chittagong (now CUET), where he worked for almost two years. After that, he started working for Bangladesh Railway (BR) as "assistant mechanical engineer". Eventually, he worked there for twenty-one years attaining to a position of "Additional Chief Mechanical Engineer." He had a lot of different well-known key roles in BR as a Mechanical Engineer, including Works Manager and Production Engineer of Saidpur Railway Workshop for seven years. Then he changed careers once more, joining the government as a "Deputy Secretary (DS)" and was elevated to "Additional Secretary" in 2022. As “Additional Secretary” he was entrusted to look after the “Telecommunication wing” of Post and Telecommunication Division. He also completed prestigious one-year long “National Defense Course (NDC)”.

Before retiring in 2025, he was assigned to the position of "Managing Director" at Bangladesh Hi-tech Park Authority, where due to his wide range of experience, intellectual prowess and leadership skills, he contributed successfully to enhance and strengthen government-industry-academia collaboration.

Mr. Islam is an invaluable asset to "World University of Bangladesh," where he intends to use his diverse skills and talents to promote the university's growth.

You are suggested to clear all dues and register to participate in the Final Retake Examination (4-month Trimester) and Mid-Term Retake Examination (6-month Semester) for the Spring 2026 semester (if required & eligible).

RETAKE SCHEDULE:
· Retake Registration and Payment Deadline: The self-registration and taking clearance for retakes by the students through login to the student portal (student.wub.edu.bd): 07/05/2026 to 10/05/2026.
· Probable Makeup Classes for Retake Examinees: The Makeup Classes for Retake Examinees will be scheduled from 11/05/2026 to 12/05/2026.
· Retake Exams: The retake exam will be scheduled from 13/05/2026 to 16/05/2026 and will be provided by the respective department.
