Today’s lesson is very important
Many of us struggle with Burmese words that look or sound almost the same. A tiny change in spelling can completely change the meaning. This causes a lot of confusion.
Examples from the video
My request to you:
These words have separate meanings, but when joined they mean something totally new. Don’t just memorize, understand the meaning. Watch the video again and practice writing them in your notebook.
If you still don’t understand, comment below. Please share this so others can learn too.
Thank you

Let’s fix a common mistake together
In Burmese, changing just one letter changes the whole meaning. This chart from our lesson shows 5 word pairs that many students confuse:
Confusing Word Pairs:
1. ကြက် vs ချက်
ကြက် = chicken
ချက် = to cook
2. ကြံ vs ခြံ
ကြံ = sugarcane, or to plan
ခြံ = yard, compound, farm
3. ထုပ် vs ထုတ်
ထုပ် = to wrap, packet
ထုတ် = to take out, to produce
4.ချစ် vs ရှစ်
ချစ် = to love
ရှစ် = eight
5.စား vs ဆါး
စား = to eat
ဆါး = saw, the tool
Comment below: Which pair do you confuse most? Let’s practice together ⬇️
Thank you

(We had lost our Motherland in Arakan)
The land where our ancestors built homes, prayed in mosques and temples, and buried their dead was taken from us. The hills, the rivers, the rice fields we knew since childhood are no longer ours to walk freely. Our villages were burned, our families scattered, and the names of our towns were changed as if erasing them from memory would make us disappear too.
We carry Arakan in our language, in our food, in the stories our grandparents tell before they sleep. But carrying it is not the same as living on it. Every day without our motherland feels like a day lived half-alive, watching from outside while others claim what was ours.
We remember, and because we remember, we refuse to let Arakan become only a story told in exile.
Sincerely
[Abu Rahman]
