We are delighted to share that two research works from the Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy and Catalysis Laboratory - NRCL have been accepted for the American Chemical Society - ACS Fall 2026 meeting, taking place August 23–27, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois & digitally.

These works highlight NRCL’s research strengths in computational chemistry and sustainable materials design for next-generation energy storage, optoelectronic, and photovoltaic applications.

Congratulations to Ashraful Hasan, Dr. Md. Kamrul Hossain, and Dr. Faisal Islam Chowdhury for this achievement and for representing the research excellence of NRCL on an international platform.

Celebrating NRCL’s Young Researchers on the Global Stage

The Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy and Catalysis Laboratory - NRCL, Department of Chemistry, University of Chittagong, proudly congratulates Mahmud Shareef and Md Rockshat on their successful PhD admissions to prestigious universities in the United States.

Both of them have shown a very strong academic commitment, research enthusiasm and perseverance in their journey at NRCL. This is a great accomplishment and a great source of pride for us as they make the transition to fully funded doctoral programmes.

We are proud to see our researchers progressing toward advanced research careers at leading international institutions. Their achievements reflect not only their individual dedication but also the collaborative and research-oriented culture they have at NRCL.

Publication Update

We are delighted to share that our research article, “Temperature-dependent viscometric study on binary mixtures of tetrahydrofuran and isomeric butanols: insights into excess properties and molecular interactions,” has been published in the Journal of Chemical Thermodynamics (Elsevier).

This study provides a comprehensive investigation of the temperature-dependent viscometric behavior of binary mixtures of tetrahydrofuran (THF) with isomeric butanols. Through the evaluation of excess thermodynamic properties and molecular interactions, the research offers valuable insights into intermolecular forces, solution behavior, and thermophysical properties that are important for chemical process design, solvent selection, and industrial applications.

The Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy and Catalysis Laboratory (NRCL) had the honor of welcoming the distinguished professor and renowned scientist Dr. Shamim Akhtar during her recent visit to our laboratory.

During the visit, Dr. Shamim Akhtar spent valuable time interacting with our research students and fellows. She discussed the progress of their ongoing research work and provided insightful guidance on conducting research more effectively and responsibly. Her thoughtful suggestions, experience, and encouragement greatly inspired the students and helped them gain a clearer perspective on their research directions.

The visit was also attended by Dr. Md. Kamrul Hossain, whose presence and support further enriched the discussion and interaction with the research team.

We sincerely appreciate Dr. Shamim Akhtar for taking the time to engage with our research community and for sharing her valuable knowledge and expertise. Her visit was truly motivating and will undoubtedly contribute to strengthening the research culture within our laboratory.

Alhamdulillah, today the Nanotechnology, Renewable Energy and Catalysis Laboratory - NRCL had the privilege of organizing an Iftar Mahfil in the blessed month of Ramadan.

The honorable supervisor of NRCL Dr. Md. Kamrul Hossain, respected lab members, and dedicated research fellows joined together for this special gathering. Beyond research discussions and academic commitments, this evening allowed us to strengthen our bond as a family, sharing prayers, gratitude, and moments of togetherness.
