The students of the Urban & Regional Planning Department, Batch of 2022, recently completed an insightful field tour to Cox’s Bazar (April 26–29) under URP306: Field Study on Planning Course. with the guidance of their course teachers — Mrs. Tandra Das, Mr. Md. Rakibul Hasan Kauser, and Mr. Md. Nazmul Huda Naim.

During the visit, they engaged with professionals from the Cox’s Bazar Development Authority (CoxDA), BRAC, and the Urban Development Directorate (UDD). These sessions provided firsthand exposure to the processes, challenges, and strategies of city governance and sustainable urban development.

Through presentations and interactive discussions, students gained valuable insights into ongoing projects and institutional practices. This hands-on learning opportunity enriched their understanding of urban planning and offered practical knowledge that will guide their future careers.

Such experiences highlight CUET URP’s commitment to bridging classroom learning with real-world practice.

The Department of Urban & Regional Planning, CUET, was honored to host a workshop conducted by Prof. Dr. Md. Moinul Islam, Controller of Examinations (Additional Charge).

A huge congratulations to Rokshana Binta Samad, Associate Professor (on leave) of the Urban and Regional Planning (URP) Department at CUET, for the recent publication of her impactful research paper in "Progress in Disaster Science" Journal.

Her study, "Improving disaster preparedness and recovery of Bangladesh riverbank erosion areas: Insights from household perceptions and practices", addresses a critical gap in disaster risk reduction research by focusing on slow-onset disasters like riverbank erosion—an often overlooked but devastating reality for many communities in Bangladesh.
