Govt. Barisal College is situated in Barisal Divisional City, Barisal. The college has started her voyage from 2nd September, 1963.
Initially it was a Night School situated in the BM School campus. To meet the accelerated demand, in 1966 it has been relocated in the present campus. The present campus was the Residence of Mahatma Ashwini Kumar Dutta. Day Section was initiated in 1970. The college has been nationalized on 14th November, 1986. In 2006, Honors Courses have been started in Marketing, Management and Social Welfare.
