"If anyone asks to borrow your household utensils or useful tools, you should lend them if you are able. Refusing to lend such ordinary items without a valid reason is condemned in the Qur'an, and Allah warns those who withhold them of punishment."
Qur'anic Reference:
The verse is from Surah Al-Ma'un (107:4–7):
"So woe to those who pray, yet are heedless of their prayer; those who only show off, and withhold small acts of kindness (Al-Ma'un)."
— Qur'an 107:4–7
Many classical scholars explained "Al-Ma'un" to include everyday items that people commonly lend to one another, such as:
cooking pots,
buckets,
axes,
ropes,
needles,
and other household utensils or tools.
Therefore, the Qur'an criticizes those who refuse such simple acts of kindness without a valid excuse. The verse says "woe" (wayl) to such people, but it does not explicitly state: "If you do not lend them, Allah will punish you." It is more accurate to say that Allah warns and condemns those who habitually withhold these small acts of kindness.
