আজ Idioms and Phrases এর দ্বিতীয় অংশ দিব। আপনারা আশা করি নতুন নতুন এবং প্রয়োজনীয় Idioms and Phrases শিখতে পারছেন। কেমন লাগছে এই সিরিজটি মন্তব্যের মাধ্যমে জানাবেন।
1) Subject to (অধীন) Man is subject to death.
2) Sine die (অনির্দিষ্ট কাল) - The college was closed for sine die.
3) Shoulder to shoulder (সবাই মিলেমিশে) - We should do work shoulder to shoulder .
4) Short cut (সংক্ষিপ্ত) -
Jerry used a short cut from the orphanage to the cabin.
5) Stand by (সমর্থন করা ) I shall stand by you in time of danger.
6) set fire to (আগুন লাগানো) - The angry mob set fire to many cars.
7) See the light (জন্ম গ্রহণ করা) - Many children see the light every hour in Bangladesh.
8) Safe and sound (নিরাপদে)- I reached my destination safe and sound.

14) Step by step (ক্রমশঃ) - He advanced step by step.
15) Summer friends (সু সময়ের বন্ধু) - Summer friends remain away in time of danger.
16) Strike work (ধর্মঘট করা) - The drivers have struck work.
17) So and so (এরকম থাকা) I asked him how he was and he replied that he was so and so.
18) Slow and steady (ধীর স্থির ব্যক্তি)- A proverb goes that slow and steady wins the race.
19) Slow coach (অলস ব্যক্তি) - A slow coach man can never shine in life.
20) Slip of tongue (মুখ ফসকে উক্তি বের হওয়া) - He made a slip of the tongue in his speech.

অনেকেই Idioms And Phrases পড়া শুরু করে A বর্ণ থেকে। অর্থাৎ ABC থেকে । কয়েকটা পড়েই বাদ দিয়ে দেয়। প্রথম দিকেরগুলো প্রায় সবায় জানে। যেহেতু আপনাদের একটু হলেও উপকার করার জন্য এই পোস্ট টি দিচ্ছি, তাই আমি উলটো দিক থেকে শুরু করব। Z-A পদ্ধতিতে।

শুরু করা যাক প্রথম পর্বঃ

1. Yellow dog (হীন ব্যক্তি) - A yellow dog is always hated by all.
2. Without fail (অবশ্যই) - You must attend the meeting without fail.
3. Worthy of (যোগ্য) - He is worthy of a good job.
4. With a view to (উদ্দেশ্য)- He goes to college with a view to attending the class.
5. Well up (সুপন্ডিত)- Dr. Shahidullah was well-up in Bengali language.
6. well-to-do (সঙ্গতিপূর্ণ) - He was not born in a well-to-do family.
7. Well off (স্বচ্ছল) - Jim and Della were not well off.
8. Victim of (বলি)- He is a victim of circumstances.
9. Under age (অপ্রাপ্ত বয়স্ক)- He could not cast his vote because he was under age.
10. Upper hand (প্রধান্য) - He got the upper hand in the selection.
11. up to (পর্যন্ত) - I have done the exercises up to page 40.
12. Up-to-date (আধুনিক) - Now-a-days ladies are very up to date.
13. Ups and downs (উত্থান পতন)- There is ups and downs in a man's life.
14. To the back bone (হাড়ে হাড়ে) - The boy is wicked to the backbone.
15. To the point (সঠিক)- The boy answered the question to the point.
16. To the utmost (যথাসাধ্য)- I tried to the utmost of my ability to have a job.
17. To the brim (কানায় কানায়) - The river was full to the brim.
18. To go to the dogs (গোল্লায় গোল্লায়)- He has gone to the dogs by keeping evil company.
19. Through and through (পুঙ্খানুপুঙ্খু রুপে)- He read the poem through and through.
20. Silver tongue (মিষ্ঠ ভাষী)- He is a man of silver tongue.
