Do you know what are the basic principles of fluid mechanics 🧗🏻♀️?
🚀The basic fluid mechanics principles are the continuity equation (i.e. conservation of mass), the momentum principle (or conservation of momentum), and the energy equation.
🔑A related principle is the Bernoulli equation which derives from the motion equation.
🚀In an open channel flow the free surface is always streamlined and it is all the time at constant absolute pressure (usually atmospheric). The driving force of the fluid motion is gravity and the fluid is water in most practical situations.
🚀For an incompressible fluid (e.g. water), for zero lateral inflow (i.e. Q constant) and for steady flow conditions, the continuity equation yields:
🔑🔑 Q=V1A1=V2A2
Where Q is the total discharge (i.e. volume discharge), V is the mean flow velocity across the cross-section A and subscripts 1 and 2 refer to the upstream and downstream locations, respectively.
Stay tuned, we’ll have a problem related to Continuity equation tomorrow 🚀😁!

Relief Systems 🚀
🎸A relief system is an emergency system for discharging gas during abnormal conditions, by manual or controlled means or by an automatic pressure relief valve from a pressurized vessel or piping system, to the atmosphere to relieve pressures in excess of the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP).
🎸Pressure relief is used to protect a process vessel or reactor
from a pressure excursion. It is often the last line of defense when other systems such as fire prevention and process cooling have failed. There are various causes of overpressure, such as external fire and runaway reaction, which need to be considered. It means yesterday's question answer was YES🎷!
🎸Briefly, a pressure relief valve (PRV) is a type of safety-related component used in the pipeline or with vessels in pneumatics. Relief valves are used to limit the amount of compressed air pressure in a system so that it doesn’t build up above a pre-set level and cause damage to machinery or people.
You can watch the animation of how the PRVs are working 🎯.
