About Brian Rian Riget Broe:

With a PhD from DTU Denmark in Aero-acoustic noise from Wind Turbine blades and an MSc in Meteorology from Copenhagen University, Brian brings over a decade of experience in Wind Resource Assessments (WRA). His professional journey includes significant roles at renowned organizations:

•Suzlon, Indian turbine manufacturer, 2009-2010
•ABO Wind, German developer, 2010-2015
•CUBE Engineering/Rambøll, German consultancy merged with Danish consultancy, 2015-2017
•Kjeller Vindteknikk/Norconsult, Norwegian consultancy merged with Norwegian consultancy, 2018-2022

Our recent field trip to the 230 MW Gobustan Solar Power Plant, led by Masdar and guided by the knowledgeable Kamil Manafov, was a journey into the heart of sustainable energy innovation! 🌞🌱

Picture this - endless rows of sleek solar panels harnessing the sun's power to generate a whopping 230 megawatts of clean, sustainable energy. Witnessing the scale and efficiency of the Gobustan Solar Power Plant was truly inspiring for our SPE Energy School students. 💡

A special shout-out to our guide, Kamil Manafov, who took the time to delve into the intricate workings of solar technology. He shared insights into photovoltaic cells, the sophisticated control systems ensuring optimal energy production, and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of the technology. Kamil's expertise added a whole new dimension to our learning experience, fueling our passion for renewable energy! 🌍💬

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Masdar Azerbaijan Team for opening their doors to us and facilitating this enriching experience. The Gobustan Solar Power Plant is more than just a facility; it's a beacon of hope for a greener future.

About the plant:

The plant, sprawling over 550 hectares, will produce 500 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually, saving 110 million cubic meters of natural gas and reducing carbon emissions by 200 thousand tons. With 570 thousand solar panels and a dedicated 330-kilovolt substation, it's a testament to cutting-edge technology in action.

From serving as Deputy Director to the role of the Head of the Marketing and Design Department at “Azalternativenerji” LLC, his journey reflects a wealth of experience and expertise.

🔧 His extensive involvement in various positions, including the management of remotely controlled monitoring devices, wind measurement observation stations, and solar and wind-powered hybrid stations, demonstrates his hands-on approach in the renewable energy sector. Notably, he played a key role in the establishment of the Gobustan hybrid type station with 1MW wind turbines.

🌐 Rasim Mammadov’s international exposure includes participation in advanced training courses across several countries, earning certifications from renowned organizations. His commitment to innovation is evident through scientific articles, presentations, and contributions to projects analyzing wind and solar data.

👨‍🏫 About Mentor Jeff Jackson:
Jeff is an experienced specialist in the field of sustainable design and renewable generation. He is a registered professional engineer in the Untied States. He started from a multi-discipline engineering background, but has found his passion in photovoltaics and renewables. His first solar project, built in 2006, had building integrated photovoltaic window shades and a rooftop array. Since then he has gone on to work on high performance buildings and commercial and utility scale photovoltaics projects. He has experience with several types of PV including amorphous silicon, traditional mono and polysilicon, CIGS, and combined PV. Applications have included floating systems. ground-mounted, building integrated, and rooftop installations on all types of buildings including skyscrapers and warehouse logistic hubs. Jeff loves what he does and enjoys sharing his knowledge and experience with others who share his passion for renewables.
