Hello.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank each person for following this page over my 11 years as a daycare educator. It is now time to close Birdys and become an Early Childhood Teacher after studying for the past 4 years. I have loved this journey and look forward to my next few years as I become a teacher.

Today to celebrate NAIDOC week we went to the You Yangs. The children took part in a variety of experiences using natural resources, paint and charcoal. I read the story “ The Rainbow Serpent”, to begin a conversation about Indigenous people and their connection to the land, which the children enjoyed. We made hand print art, using the colours of the Aboriginal flag to display in our service. A wonderful day today on Wadawurrung land.

Today we participated in The National Simultaneous Storytime at the Point cook Library. It was a fantastic opportunity to share the story of The Truck Cat.

"Some cats are house cats. Some are apartment cats. But Tinka is a truck cat. Tinka lives everywhere."

Another fantastic day spent exploring nature. Serendip sanctuary is a little piece of heaven. We ate lunch with emus, viewed birdlife and said hello to black Rock wallaby's 🪨

Easter Celebrations at the Farm. The children painted Easter eggs, created Easter boxes, went on a Easter hat parade and then an Easter egg hunt. To finish we all enjoyed a beautiful lunch where all educators and their families contributed food to the table. Yum 🐣🐰

This week we ventured to Werribee Mansion for our outdoor classroom and then to visit our friends at The Bush Bus. The children experienced hands on learning, fine and gross motor skills and best of all the building of friendships 🩷

Today is our first visit to the Werribee south beach to learn about ocean life. To extend on the ocean world activity station in our daycare, this month we will visit the beach in order for every child to explore different elements of our ocean and beach life.

Today we focused on the birds that live on the coastlines of Australia. We shared a story about the birds, identified the birds in the book that we could see during our time at the beach. A child pointed out a bird called the Crested Tern , that he could see diving under the water, this started a fantastic conversation about which bird it was, we then found it in the book and reread the information about it.
