The King’s Birthday long weekend means double demerit points apply in NSW until Monday 8 June. Police will be out in force targeting speeding, mobile phone use, seatbelt offences and dangerous driving.

• Slow down and leave extra space between cars
• Turn your headlights on so others can see you
• Brake gently and earlier than usual
• Avoid sudden turns or harsh braking
• Watch out for pedestrians, cyclists, and school zones
• Avoid large puddles and never drive through flood water
• Make sure your tyres and wipers are in good condition
• If visibility is poor, pull over safely and wait for conditions to improve

Remember: the first rain after a dry spell can make roads extra slippery. Stay alert and drive safely!
