TOOLS DOWN 👷🏼🛠️
Our amazing team have worked tirelessly over only 6 days to ensure a meaningful collaboration with the local community at Manyara Primary Boarding School. Here’s a quick recap of all the amazing things they have achieved:

Team 1: Enhanced the pre-existing shipping container with new windows, doors, and ventilation. They coordinated local laborers to install a new floor, work tirelessly on a new drain and water system, set up a solar lights inside, and painted the container all to make this space more usable and comfortable for the girls.

Team 2: Installed new guttering on the boys' dormitories with a new 5000L tank. This ensures sustainable water collection, allowing the students to collect essential water for the dry season. This team also arranged a new concrete slab for safety and accessibility around the building.

Team 3: Worked on additional guttering and water systems at the boys dormitories, overcoming challenges with uneven infrastructure. This group also worked in conjunction with the local community to build a wildlife wall around the dorms.

Teams 2 & 3 also addressed concerns about the students clotheslines, using locally sourced material to ensure longevity and accessibility.

A smaller fourth team was also established during our time on site to set up guttering and a water tank near one of the l classrooms. This was to address hygiene concerns around water access near a bathroom. In addition to this they also created totem tennis equipment for the students.

Everyone worked tirelessly and achieved so much! Incredible work everyone 🌟 a huge thank you also to all who have supported this project. Your contributions have made a huge impact! 🙏❤️

Today we started our collaboration with Manyara Primary Boarding School and met with the teachers, P&C and wider school community. With detailed deliberation, we addressed areas of improvement and started establishing our team projects. With the children’s boardings being in close proximity to the adjacent wildlife park our focus was on their safety and improving the children’s wellbeing & learning opportunities. We are ecstatic to get right into work with our students splitting into three groups!

Group One will be led by .rowe.21 and will be expanding upon last year’s efforts! With a 20ft shipping container acting as a barrier for the local wildlife, this team will be turning it into a multipurpose space. With the hope of using it as a study space and storage team 1 have lots to do!!

Team 2 & 3 led by and are heading over to the boys dormitories! Amy and Meg’s teams aim towards reflecting the guttering and rain water systems that are currently in place in the girls’ facilities. These two teams will be working on the installation of two new water tanks, guttering, a wildlife wall and concrete slab for accessibility. These teams have their work cut out for them!

All of our students are super excited to get to work and are importantly staying flexible to the wants and needs of the community using this space!! You can see how much we have already achieved in the photos above after just one day at work!
