Education is the proper way to promote compassion and tolerance in society. Compassion and peace of mind bring a sense of confidence that reduce stress and anxiety, whereas anger and hatred come from frustration and undermine our sense of trust. Because of ignorance, many of our problems are our own creation. Education, however, is the instrument that increases our ability to employ our own intelligence.

A habit is the result of the concentration of the mind. You have been thinking a certain way. To form a new and good habit, just concentrate in the opposite direction.

Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn't more complicated that that. It is opening to or recieving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is, without either clinging to it or rejecting it.

The purpose of a fishtrap is to catch fish, and when the fish are caught, the trap is forgotten. The purpose of a rabbit snare is to catch rabbits. When the rabbits are caught, the snare is forgotten. The purpose of words is to convey ideas. When the ideas are grasped, the words are forgotten. Where can I find a man who has forgotten words? He is the one I would like to talk to.

The greatest siddhas or saints are often precisely those who begin with the greatest defilements.

Take a risk today. Make it your own. Make it just above your comfort level or crazy like you've never been. Remind yourself who YOU are besides all the responsibilities and commintments you may have. Remember your life is also your OWN and the only way to give to those you love is to also give to yourself. Do something childish and grow again!

The outward form of things passes away, but the essence remains for ever. How long will you be besotted with the shape of the jug? Cast aside the jug, and seek the water. If you look too closely at the form, you miss the essence. If you are wise, you will always pick out the pearl from the shell. - Rumi, "Masnavi"

The eye of desire dirties and distorts. Only when we desire nothing, only when our gaze becomes pure contemplation, does the soul of things open itself to us. The man whom I look at with dread or hope, with greed, designs or demands, is not a man but a cloudy mirror of my own desire. Whether I am aware of it or not, I regard him in the light of questions that limit and falsify.
